It's a great audio book to listen to, with the same two voice actors speaking Dash and Lily as in book one. While it's entertaining to listen to, there is no real story until the last quarter of the book, when Lily finally stops trying to stubbornly resist the changes in her life and blaming everyone but herself. The try to replicate the magic of book one seems too forced to me, so not worth reading a second time.

love this book, first watched the netflix series, and one year later listened to the audio book, with one Lily, and one Dash narrater, it's very entertaining. This is the best book for christmas time, the story is unique and so wonderfully bookish. I'll probably will listen to it many more times at christmas.

Great book to read in the weeks before Christmas and if you love Edinburgh. I wasn‘t a big fan of Carmen, but what I didn‘t like about her was what she apparently had to work out in the course of the book and the ending is… well, very christmassy, so still worth reading, if only to relive my own memories of Edinburgh before Christmas and get into the x-mas mood. It‘s not a blow-me-away book, but for this specific time it‘s an entertaining read. My rating is higher because for me personally the setting in Edinburgh strikes a chord in me since I‘ve lived there for a year.

I tried that as an audio book on audible, before i discovered Apple Books that works without subs, which i much prefer. Bad choice for an audio book, one main character is of Indian origin and is spoken by a guy with Indian accent. I love the people and the culture, but i just can't deal with the accent, never could. The story is quite depressing as far as i got, so I decided to not force myself to continue.

Great for a quick, fast paced in between book to entertain. Not totally on J R Ward level, but almost. I do like the relative independence of the female heroine, not as submissive as Ward's eventually always are. Worth reading the next when i need an easy read, the story arc doesn't get boring.

The story is masterfully written, it‘s not just 95% build up and 5% showdown, it builds up steadily from page one and with each page you turn it becomes harder to put it down, the plot deepens, there are twists and turns I did not foresee (right until the end) and it gains in depth in such a meaningful way that you get more and more invested in not only the story, but also the characters and the very real history touched on in the book. The story itself is a fantasy story of friendship, empowerment and magic, and self-discovery, but all as part of a much wider and broader context. I loved the evolution of the story, and although there is a small cliff-hanger at the end it‘s not too bad. I will wait with reading book 2 though until book 3 is out, and then I‘ll get all three of them in print as well.

It was a bit tough to get through the first half, but not bad, the story is a good one and enjoyable to read, just not a page turner like book one was. Its a love story of opposites attract by levelling prejudices, mixed with a good vs evil fight. Its a book best read in the weeks leading up to Beltane, a spring book. It is a cozy and entertaining read and the finale was intense and not foreseeable. Def worth reading book three in the series coming out in January 2023.

The combination of trying to be a murder mystery while being an animal kingdom children's book doesn't work for me.

First of, I like this sort of murder mystery where the police is not involved and there’s no brutality or extreme scenes. It’s also a perfect book to read in spring, as it takes place in spring and the author is gifted at setting a beautiful scene. The characters are very lovable and unique, becoming much more deep in this book with a lot of background story, than in book one. I actually prefer his one, which is rare in a series. Also the perfect book for everyone who lost a loved one, in a good, positive way, which is incredibly difficult and kudos to the author on that! The endings are lovely too, very satisfying, and not just a paragraph and that’s it, I love that. Book 3 is being set up a bit in the last page and I now can. not. wait. toreador it. Def reco to re-read, but in spring.
