Fun and lighthearted! A perfect poolside read for the summer.

The premise was good but honestly I got bored pretty fast. Finished it because I was listening while working on some other things around the house.
The characters got together too fast for me to truly love it as a enemies to lovers plot. By the end I was skipping through the smut scenes - they became a bit unnecessary. If you're in the mood for some graphic smut this is the book for you!
When I started I was ready to read the entire series but I think the story just overstayed its welcome.

I loved the premise, but the story lacked a lot of depth. Such a huge opportunity here felt wasted for the excuse of talking about rippling muscles. Maybe my expectations were too high?

Did I expect this smut book to have some of the most well developed characters I’ve read recently? Nope. Was it a bit over the top at times? Yes, but honestly I was so invested I couldn’t give up. Not to mention the spicy scenes were spaced out enough that I didn’t get bored with them. A nice surprise of a book!

I really wanted to like this book. I the premise was amazing. However, everything just seemed shallow. The world, the characters, the stakes. This story needed time to build but it just seemed to sacrifice a lot of the necessary times with the characters. The main character toed the line of being a Mary Sue to me.
I was done at the sword fighting practice. In this scene she easily overpowers the King and then thinks to tuck a spare knife in her shoe when she previously talks about such a normal human life she lived?
Sad, but maybe I'll try to read it again later.
