The Fallen: Genesis by Tillie Cole

I only picked this up because I had in physical copy. Will I continue this series ? I have no clue because this prequel was fucked up so I must really reallyyyy sit around and wonder how fucked up the rest of the series will be... *Fingers crossed*

I loved every moment of this mystery and I'm willing to pick up more books by her.

The concept is great but with a poor execution.

The woman was too stunned to speak (the woman is me) this book was insane, I've previously talked with other book buddies about the book while reading and they said that the book slowed down a bit in the middle but weirdly enough I didn't feel it, I can tell where they would pinpoint that slowness but I personally didn't feel it.
This was the first time reading any of Kuang's books and really it was an amazing experience, her writing feels so fresh and rich yk ?, the idea for me was new. The blunt Plagiarism that I've witnessed in this made me swear all the way to the end of the book, like the audacity just kept surprising me and her reasons that felt utterly psychological like I– as a reader– is insane for thinking or being accusatory of June, it's why I felt that this book was engaging in a way (a reason why I wanted to slam her head to a wall as well but meh

I wholeheartedly loved this book. This is my second book to read by this author and she yet again did not disappoint (Now this and Vespertine are two of my fav). It is also the first book that I’ve read that had related two Faeries, she excelled in the world building who’s who and what powers belonged to whom and all that sort.
Although it was shorter than the usual length of fantasy books it really DELIVERED y’all. I was giggling and kicking my feet like some school girl while reading this, the banter and the utter oblivion of the fair ones during conversations had me laughing most of the time. I loved her detailed descriptions (even if my brain wasn’t following it with a clear image) of characters and different lands between the courts (winter, summer, spring and autumn).
And like… FEEELINGS. I’m not a romance type of person but this was such a fluff to me.
I was so invested into this story and I’ve been wanting to read this book for more than 2 years now and it really made me sure of picking up the remaining books by her (I hope she writes some more), I can’t get enough of this author and maybe just maybe I’ll attempt to reread if I need a taste of this AMAZING style.

I do not forgive whoever advertised that this is a silly troop story, because you couldn't be more wrong tbh.
I enjoyed my way through this, this is the second book to read regarding the Faeries and it's just as fun as my previous read (is this a sign that maybe my year will not be filled with shitty books ? We don't know but we shall find out together with my neverending TBR).
I'm intrigued to start the second book right now but I'm gonna wait a bit, I loved this with my whole heart. I don't trust half of the people of Elfhame and I don't trust Cardan either. But I have faith in my baby Jude.

Rating is 2.5 exactly.
I hate the fact that was so intrigued and hooked to the synopsis that's why I initially picked it up and was just met with disappointment.
The story drags (maybe because it's a series idk), and we don't untangle a lot of stuff that could be revealed in the first book yk instead it's just a continuation of representation each chapter to the point where I wanted it to end, I WAS INVESTED Y'ALL.
The concept was great, Zoe was funny, mason was likable, no one hates a black cat if it appears And who wouldn't like people who want to help but the PLOT ??? WHERE IS THE DAMN PLOT WHEN YOU NEED IT.
Idk if I'm gonna continue this.

Well, I didn't think it was possible to hate Taryn even more but here I am.

I have so much of built up anger after finishing this book that I only have one question. How much stabbing in the back can Jude handle before snapping all these 'high up their asses of the folk' necks? I'm not sure I want an answer to that because I'm not sure if I want to how much worse it can get BUT HERE WE FUCKING GO, and there is still a third book ???? Oml.
I just have one thing to add, me and all my homies hate Taryn and it ain't no secret.
