Ngl the summary pulled me in but as I was reading the summary didn't seem to fit until later in the book. In the beginning she has no idea who the Ripper is, and though she does have some anger towards Jaxon it's for a completely different reason. Might sound weird...but I think I would have enjoyed the book more had the summary been a bit more accurate and didn't spoil a big part of the book 🤷🏽♀️
Individually I enjoyed getting to know the characters but...I feel like I needed more to show why their love/obsession with each other made sense...especially from Jaxon's POV. Also, when exactly did the Ripper decide he no longer wanted to murder Laine? It seems like he went from wanting to mutilate her to BAM wanting to destroy anyone that touched her...
I still plan to read more from this author and hope to connect better with the characters they write.

This is the first time I ever wanted the Jafar like character to get Jasmine 🤣 and thought the Aladdin character was a lil bitch from the start...🤣

This gorgeous book has been sitting on my shelf for a while now and I decided it was finally time to dive in...and it did not disappoint.
We get a story with love, mystery, intrigue, and a little magic...we also get a story where stories are told to us by some of the characters and I LOVE that. Idk why but there's just something about a character telling us a story/myth/lore from their world that just helps me settle in even more. ^^
The end of this book had me glad I already have The Rose and the Dagger sitting on my shelf...so I can immediately dive into the other half of this tale.

Ahh this was such a fun read! We get spooky fall vibes, set at an old camp ground, and so much mystery!
This is the perfect read for anyone who likes horror movies that are more suspense and mystery than blood and gore 😉

Total honesty...I never got that "aha" moment where I could look past all Kiyoshi's bad deeds and forgive/forget...I could see how his history made him the man he is today but I never got to the point where I could excuse/forgive all of his bad...which is weird for me 😅
I feel like no matter how dark the deeds...there usually comes a points, in all dark romances, where I forgive/understand their misdoings and cheer for them to get their HEA...but not so much with Kiyoshi. Perhaps it was just because Kiyoshi was so emotionally closed off, though he showed his care in action and deed...I needed more inner monologue that showed a slightly softer side. 🤷🏽♀️
Krie was easy to understand, relate to, and love. Though I really didn't understand how much of Kiyoshi's shitty treatment she looked past.
There were quite a few errors in the book which my brain just corrected and I moved past...but hopefully at some point the authors able to go through and correct those.
I know eventually we'll get Hishashi's book...and I'm hoping it shows exactly why his emotions seemed so inconstant through this book. He went from constantly reminding Kiyoshi that women destroy and should only be toys...just really cold towards women like they should only be around when you need a release...to being almost the opposite and clearly yearning for his love...
Anyways, overall it wasn't a bad book...it just didn't hit quite like I was expecting it to...

Ahh I've been waiting for Jed's book and it did not disappoint.
Was he raised to be a killer cannibal? Yes. Is he also the sweetest, most thoughtful, caring, and bashful of all the men we've met so far in this series? Yes. haha There were so many times, while reading, that I kept saying, "Come on Saylor he's so sweet! Ignore the murderer part and his past as a cannibal!" 🤣
I cannot wait to see what other stories we get in this series!

Why didn't I look up this series before starting and realize the final book wasn't out yet...especially since every book ends on a cliffhanger 🥹 The summary for the final book says release in August but probably dropping sooner...so I have no idea when I get to read the conclusion... *sigh*
This book didn't really add anything new to the story that I hadn't already known or guessed...now to wait for that final book drop.
Don't read below if you haven't read this book!
The final book though will really need to have a good explanation as to how/why Daisy is still alive and why she hasn't reached out to Ivy...and I hope it's not a amnesia reason...but I have a sneaking suspicion that will come into play. I mean why else wouldn't Daisy have gone to Ivy or tried to kill the men that hurt her?
I'm interested to see how her being alive is explained because Bram said multiple times that when he found Daisy and Ivy...it was too late to save Daisy but he was able to save Ivy...
The final book will definitely make or break this story...
