How it is that no matter how many times I read through these books I find more and more information? I love that there's always new things popping out at me. ^^ For this reread I decided to just read my Kindle version and highlight in that since I think eventually I want all paperbacks and so instead of worrying about adding a bunch of new notes to my hardcover copy...I just added to my spreadsheet and marked up my kindle.

Part of me is so tempted to take a step away and read something else fantasy related before doing my deep dive of OS but also...since everything is still so fresh in my brain I feel like I need to push on...

My local book group chose IF for our January read so I decided to finally reread and annotate my physical copy. There were so many little details that I completely missed during my first read that stood out to me on this second read. I have so many questions regarding the Empyrean, the original riders, etc.

I really love the lore we're getting within this world and the addition of flyers to our cast. Can't wait to learn more about the territories we've only heard about in passing...and maybe explore them?

Really glad that RY already had a specific number of books planned out so we know this entire story won't be drawn out forever πŸ˜…

The last 150 pages or so had me extremely emotional...thank goodness I always have tissues close at hand...

Yeah...I'm gonna need some time to process all of that...

Fuuuuuuuu...I was not prepared for how gutted I would be after finishing this book.

This duology was so freakin good and I will definitely be rereading again and again. πŸ₯°

Also, how DARE you Rachel...there were people in book one I decided to never like and you just had to redeem them in my eyes didn't you?!

Anyways, if you've yet to read this PHENOMENAL duology...please please please dive into this magical world that has found family, fighting for what's right, love, a deep and connected history, and so much more 😭

Content Warnings: sexual content, toxic relationships, toxic friendships, and emotional cheating.

Okay look...I started reading this because I saw a quote from like the 3rd or 4th book...and you know me...I love to immerse myself into entire worlds. Even saying that I knew this book wasn't for me, which is why I'm not giving a rating to my review.

In general I don't read books where someone hooked up with one sibling and then immediately start a relationship with another one. When it's in a fantasy and it's an arranged marriage where the two who are engaged never meet and a sibling steps into the wedding...I LOVE that shit...but it's rare for me to like the premise in a contemporary novel.

Knowing this premise wasn't for me I was still initially intrigued by the friendship between the two main characters and wanted to see how it would play out in their marriage. The emotional back and forth within themselves and then with each other...quickly became grating...I'm surprised my eyes didn't stay in a rolled position tbh.

Although this one definitely grated on my nerves I am excited to read book two and hope that I enjoy it and can continue with the series.

Content Warnings: sexual content, violence, blood, sexism, classism, murder, poisoning, loss of autonomy, indentured servitude, abandonment, and sexual harassment.

Since meeting Erik and Maia in Faeblood book one I have been excited to see their HEA unfold. It was much sweeter and selfless than I expected...and I loved every minute of it!

We get a slow burn romance, political manipulation, surprising allies, an underdog to cheer for, and a competition deadlier than expected!

Content Warnings: sexual content, breathe play, violence, gun violence, blood, gore, torture, death, and murder.
Mention of: child abuse, death of a parent[s], neglect, corruption, and implied pedophilia and child SA.

Yes, just yes. Hook is one of those villains whose violence feels completely justified. 😌 I also loved seeing Wendy evolve and grow confident in herself and her own mind.

Ngl definitely saw the twists coming but they were still fun when revealed.

I will definitely be reading the other books in this series πŸ’œ

It's been over a year since I played DBD but I've always been interested in the lore...so when I stumbled across this on the Hoopla app I thought why not?

At only 30 some pages I'm definitely glad I checked it out through the library and didn't buy it...feels a bit like a money grab...which let's be honest DBD is in general πŸ˜…

Interesting start we meet and follow Franky as he moves to a new town and meets the other Legion members...it'll be interesting to see how they go from outcast vandals to murderers for the Entity.

Ngl I was a little disappointed in this book...I ignored quite a bit of unrealistic emotions during the first book but this book...it was just too hard to ignore. I mean you find out that your boyfriend/stalker killed your dad and forgive him so easily. Even though she asks for time to process she still pretty much instantly forgives him...like come on lady...

Not a bad duet but...definitely won't be rereading this one.

Damn this man is OBSESSED and aggressive on the outside but inside he's a little golden retriever just trying to do anything and everything to show her he loves her πŸ₯°

Wow, this series is starting off strong! Haha. Literally, within the first few pages she's concerned he's going to sex her to death...and she doesn't want to go that way...and he's being extremely possessive.

They met as children, and though she may not remember their promise to meet again as adults, he's been obsessing over her and orchestrating ways to make her his.

When her engagement, to a dick, is dissolved and she's cast out and forced to work in a brothel...he finally feels it's time to claim what's "always" been his.

We get:
-He falls first, if by fall you mean becomes obsessed and changes his life, and those around him, to ensure a future with her...
-"I'm your first AND I'll be your last"
-Anyone who even looks at her wrong...will regret it...and most likely be unable to touch anyone ever again
-Lady to commoner to lady again? Within the span of a few days

Mention of: being roofied, drug addiction, loss of a parent, and rape.

I saw some snippets of this book on Booktok and was intrigued.

There are definitely elements that you need to not look to closely at or you'll be rolling your eyes. Like how she never once suspects he's her stalker...even though he always knows where she is...like really? When you met him you didn't have a cell phone or social media...so how does he know exactly where you are? And really you aren't extremely concerned about the level of public violence he commits in your name?

Now if you don't look too closely at those aspects you'll be just fine πŸ˜…

This man is a walking red flag with neon flashing lights...and yet...I still swooned at the way he talks about her...

Example 1:
"She’s not only gotten under my skin but inside my blood. A person can’t survive without it, without that life force. She is mine. My reason for feeling alive. My reason for feeling enraged. My reason for feeling anything at all."

Example 2:
"you're in my blood, Callie. Underneath my skin. No matter how hard I try, I can't cut you out without killing myself in the process.”

Example 3:
"I’ll never leave you. Not in this life or whatever comes after. You are mine. And I will burn this world to fucking ashes before I let anything take you from me. Or me from you.”

Look is he a killer? Yes. Has he stalked her? Yes. Is he hiding secrets that can/will tear them apart? Also, yes. And yet...this book still had me swooning over his feelings for her 🀭

This book does end on a cliffhanger that requires you to immediately pick up book two. I can't wait to dive in and see what happens next and just how their relationship can become an HEA.
