A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
5.0
I started reading this, and thought, why does everyone think that this is so good? As I continued reading I realized that it's great, and all of those reviews are well deserved. Great world building, fantastic characters, interesting stories, and beautiful prose all make for an intriguing and wandering take full of sex, intrigue, and violence.
The Light of All That Falls by James Islington

This book had great moments, but in-between those moments was 6,000 years of lore, condensed into a small series. Which means there's a fair portion just swallowed up by exposition. It loses site of what made the first book great, which was a focused narrative, fast-paced plot, and intriguing world. It becomes a slog to read. However, the moments that are great, shine.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

British humor at it's finest. And boy do I like my brutus humor.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

It's pretty good, I had a great time reading this book. Full of Russian Mythology references, twists and turns in the plot and compelling characters.
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

Pleasantly surprised how good this was. I had heard it wasn't as good as the first book, but it was a lot better then I anticipated. It introduced my favorite character in the series. And leaves on a great cliff hanger
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo

A very satisfying end, to a very intriguing universe. It has some great character moments, and some thrilling action
Of Sea and Shadow by Will Wight

I found this author for on a list of Underrated Author's, while this isn't the most famous of the writer's books, it's the one that caught my eye. Told from Parallel Perspectives to the companion Book: of Shadow and Sea. This book follows Calder.
This book is very fast paced, and since it's a two part book, a lot of world building, and magic explanation is either glossed over, and sometimes out right dismissed. But it's a very fun read, that I enjoyed reading

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This is easily one of the best books I've read this year. So good that I stopped reading my other books, just to finish this one.
A smart heist book, with clever characters, high stakes, fantastic double crosses. It builds upon the original Grisha trilogy, expanding the magic system, the world building, and the scope of what's possible.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

What can I say that hasn't been said. Tolkien's world is unparalleled in it's complexity and lore. And this adventure is the first step into it.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Even better than the first book. An absolute blast to read. The characters have to figure things out with absolutely no resources, and watching them out smart people in butt clenching and nail biting scenarios is absolutely brilliant and jaw dropping. The world is expertly crafted, and just feels, "lived in." Brutal, ernest and raw, without getting to dark, this book series has my highest recommendation.
