Overall, this book about a giant skyscraper appearing out of the sky, filled with strange entities and cosmic Horror managed to be completely forgettable. Not really sure how to feel about it. If you like action packed stories with little character development, you'll probably enjoy it!

While sometimes a little cartoony, I really enjoyed this novella. I normally dislike when blurbs compare books to movies but I have to admit that the comparison to The Menu was pretty accurate. I also enjoyed the twists in the book. I couldn't put it down!
Overall, if you want a novella with "Eat The Rich" and femine rage tropes, this is for you!

I was engrossed by the world building and the twists. They were by far the highlight of the book and what got me through it. I really liked the ending a lot!
That being said, I really wish the author would've used a thesaurus for the world "healer". I realize the book is called The Prison Healer but there are only so many times it can repeated within the novel before it starts to not even sound like a real word anymore.
Another negative is the YA tropes. Think of "The Chosen One (teenage girl) who gets the hottest guy and ends up having a talent/power that sets her above her peers" trope and this checks all of the boxes. The romance in this book honestly fell flat to me. There wasn't a lot of chemistry naturally formed between the two characters other than side characters nudging them together because the guy is hot. Then he just thinks she is hot and they are suddenly in love.
It's a decent pallete cleanser from what I normally read but I couldn't round it up to a 4th star in good faith.
