shojo is usually slow to start for me but this is so sweet. my first time seeing a Deaf character in manga/anime. seeing the different ways they organize yuki’s thoughts and the dialogue when characters don’t speak each others language- which, i immediately appreciated that yuki wasn’t the only one with that. along with the focus on signed japanese learning by characters, i loved the sign in this. (also my deaf studies degree was screaming thanks at the authors note about signed japanese and japanese sign language (and the difference) and who was teaching sign for the project and who the Deaf person consulting was, bless ‘em)

big volume for black⭐️star so it’s a winner for me. his team up with soul plus the
villagers beating his ass while tsubaki was fighting her brother
were fantastic. art style worked more in this vol than the last, i wasn’t immediately taken out of it by how weird the portrayal of women was which was nice- although two large panels of naked women in a book is a lot…

i finished the anime and picked these up- the art style at the start is MAD different to that, although i heard it is more similar later in the series, that being said i like this style way less. specifically how people are drawn- ESPECIALLY women. panty shots in manga and anime are a pet peeve of mine and there were several in this. all goes to say, i love the story, characters, and world in this, but maybe not something i would continue without watching the anime

the beginning chapters with all might appearing on the scene are fantastic, and pacing wise it slows down at the beginning of the sports fest (fair, est. new arc and all). this volume really highlighted how much i like the art style- lots of extra big panels and high contrast work

extremely quickly tsuyu is confirmed my favorite, closely followed by the adorable couple momo and jiro,
“damn she’s stacked” made me cackle, and this moment we got realistic tummy drawing!!
and sweet angsty bakugo. this vol really shows his character
being someone who loves to yell and be rude (which i GET), but has intricate strategy and legit skill. and he LOSES! breakdown of ego right off the bat i stan
looking forward to his arc

nothing like an erza motivational monologue at the tail end of an arc to boost morale. the dragon slayer action in this is A1, and the team up being on the cover is DESERVED (although i adore the rejected vol cover that was included as well)

gehe gave permission to skip the explanation for hakari’s cursed technique and in this case i agree bc it seems to rely on vibes alone, but he has that covered.
DID PANDA’S SIBS DIEEEEE what was that whole chapter 185!!!
and is this a new body for kenjaku? i’m still so in the dark on his whole deal

giving me everything i love about jjk
when yuta referenced gojo and geto i SCREAMED
and i live for the cursed technique explanations, gege is wicked smart about those
and YUTA. IS. A BAMF. i could’ve died when he brought out inumaki’s cursed speech. (boyfriend things i guess)
