firstly i think this is the cover that gives me the most heebie jeebies. i’m interested to see if higuruma will be a recurring character, using his domain type to expand the canon on what domains are was SICK especially bc it enabled my perfect son megumi to get his domain up and once again sad boy yuji is making me sad, someone needs to free gojo so he can give a noogie or a hug or something

first time reading it after listening to it like a thousand times- the parallels that mitchell draws between death and capitalistic greed have aged like a fine wine. why we build the wall was written like a decade ago- pre orange president and…. art imitates life and life imitates art huh. definitely recommend looking up the lyrical changes through the history of the show- especially for the epics, i have a DEEP love for those songs. the connections drawn between eurydice and persephone are really powerful in the text. absolutely listen to the music though don’t just read- this musical BANGS

reading this after finishing the whole story via anime adds a lot to how much foreshadowing isayama did. the reveals in this edition are so well paced. i did NOT realize that ilse’s notebook came this early in the manga! honestly would’ve preferred that, it establishes so many more questions about the titans origins early on

every time the time update is on the page i’m reminded that this entire arc has been like 2-3 hrs. there is a shitton happening so im not complaining but i am worried about these kids looking for confirmation that maki isn’t dead…. seems vicious and rude to mention her and not do that nanami’s death and vision of dead bestie had me clutching my pearls. i am DISTRAUGHT the gojo and megumi flashback was a light in the tunnell because megumi is. my son. and nothing bad can happen to him.

the capitalism survival skills were great and i would totally recommend for working class people coming into or in early/mid adulthood. the memoir portions were more substantial than i had expected from the buzz around this, and they were not what i was looking for when i picked up the book but were sweet and impactful. i have followed madeline on tiktok for years and this compiled financial and/or survival strats that she has spoken about- not a ton new for the book on that front but valuable nonetheless. totally recommend the audiobook as well, author readings are elite and this is a great example
