roll credits. little slice of slice type beat for apartment hunting and more of it’s and yuki being inexplicably made for each other. also starting a language exchange is exactly the move for that couple, so adorable

new hair jumpscare is so true to life. i wish there was more emphasis on the language deprivation and dinner table syndrome that can happen when your family doesn’t speak the same language as you, the case for many deaf people in their hearing family. the line that tiki has about making it be the right choice for their family is a sweet sentiment though

i love the istu silver hair origin bonus chapter- boys bein boys bein dudes. also the german bluntness meeting Deaf bluntness in a story focused on communication is a surefire winner for me. it’s killing my least fav trope (miscommunication) before it starts. i’m excited to see more about emma and shin’s relationship as it grows, i actually liked their confrontation this vol. oushi and i continue to have beef- in a way that i believe is intended bc he’s basically personified internalized prejudice (audism specifically) and starting to work through it- which i do love despite our beef and that’s just good writing

cana development has been pending for a WHILE so i live for her team up with lucy in this arc. mashima consistently calling out his plot holes in the afterwords/lucy&mira notes makes me giggle everytime.

my sweet beloved bloodthirsty lesbian- i was surprised how much of this vol focused on maki but NO COMPLAINTS i missed her. her being essentially the second coming of toji is such a cool move, although i do need her to talk to megumi about this STAT

the different references to deaf life in here are great- relying on sight, lip reading not being an exact science, and heavy body language cues. and i appreciate that yuki is nervous/shy but still communicating her thoughts to either rin or itsuomi or both
