This is one of the most powerful narrative depictions of battle ever written. There’s a reason it’s a classic.

The workouts in this book are top notch. You could do them for the rest of your life and have the only programming you would ever need. The nutrition information is solid and accurate.

The reason it doesn’t get a higher score is because the emphasis on food journaling is Not as valid as it once was. Josh himself has stopped using food journaling, except for higher level athletes and people who already adhere to a high-quality diet looking for specific cosmetic results. For the average person, this is not the “diet program“ you need to go on.

But if you just get this book for the workouts, and Dan John’s writing, it’s well worth the price.

This isn’t a novel. It’s a reference book for kids and teens, and even some adults, on how to study, get along with people, exercise, and more.

This isn’t just a kids book. Any adult would benefit from reading it as well. Use it to get started with exercise, learn how to study, or overcome some fears.

This is not a book so much as a rubric for living a deep and meaningful life. Use it as a reference to gauge how well you’re doing in the different aspects of your life.

This is a great motivational book, but it also has a ton of really practical steps and activities that you can take part in if you follow its guidance.

As a nutritionist, I wouldn’t recommend solely sticking to the nutrition advice in this book. It might lead to some disordered eating, but otherwise everything is really solid.
