The Answer is No by Fredrik Backman
4.0
This was such a wonderful short story. It carried all the hallmarks of a Fredrik Backman book. Witty, engaging and beautiful prose. Fabulous characters and a storyline that pulls you in. I just wish it had been a little bit longer.
The Philosophy of Love by Rebecca Ryan
4.5
I really enjoyed this romance. I adored Luke. I loved his brusque nature, which hid a heart of gold. I was yearning for more moments with Alice and Luke. But I liked that this romance was ultimately about Alice discovering love in multiple forms. Including self-love. Also, dealt with the subject of panic attacks and gas-lighting and relationship abuse sensitively.
Six Poppies by Lisa Carter
4.5
This was such a powerful and beautiful story about the horrors of war and how deeply the scars run once the veterans have returned home. A gorgeous novel about the hope that love can bring and its healing power.
Some Like It Cold by Elle McNicoll

A really cute small town romance with a neurodivergent FMC. I loved Jasper and her relationship with Arthur. He saw her for who she truly was and with no need to mask. I really enjoyed this.
Menopausing: The Positive Roadmap to Your Second Spring by Dr. Naomi Potter, Davina McCall
4.0
A really brilliant and informative book. I feel that I now know much more about peri-menopause. And I feel that I now know what I can do when the symptoms of menopause fully occur. A great mixture of helpful advice, personal experiences, expert direction and the science behind menopause and HRT. I’ve always loved Davina and found her narration so easy to listen to.
The Christmas Cottage by Sarah Morgan
4.0
This book was like a warm hug. The loveliest Christmas book with very loveable characters. I especially loved Imogen and Sara. And of course, Miles the vet. The ideal book to read at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025.
My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella
4.5
I love a Sophie Kinsella book. They make me laugh so much but are so heart-warming and truthful. Katie and Alex were brilliant. And I loved the character of Demeter too and her development during the book. Just a great book, that leaves you all warm inside.
The Luminaries by Susan Dennard

I really enjoyed this unique YA romantasy. The world building and the fantasy element were so interesting. I adored Winnie and her relationship with Jay. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
A Deception of Courts by Ben Alderson
4.5
I love these books loads. They remind me of a queer “Throne of Glass”. Which is my favourite Romantasy series ever.
It’s getting harder to review these books without giving away the plot. So much has changed since Robin entered Wychwood near the beginning of “A Betrayal of Storms”. Robin is now a king and has Fey to lead. And although he has his insecurities and worries, he is also a strong leader and makes solid and sensible decisions. He is a character that I love and want the best for. Yet, he is surrounded by danger. And it’s just getting worse.
The stakes get higher in each book. I get so much adrenaline running through my body lwhile I’m reading. I don’t know how I’m going to cope in the final book, “A Game of Monsters”. I will probably need a good cry and a lie down when I’ve finished the series.
One of my favourite tropes is found family, and I adore the close group of people that Robin has established around himself. Their relationships are wonderful to read about and some of the scenes with the found family provide some light relief from the action.
This book is filled with twists and turns, like the other novels in the series. There are amazing action set pieces. And the balance between action and the development of character and relationships is perfect. Plus, there is some sizzling spice.

The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece by Tom Hanks
4.5
I loved the writing style in this book. Hank’s writing is captivating and enchanting. He draws you into the story. The characters are fabulous. There is a huge cast of characters but each one is individual and fully formed. I also found the insight into making a film absolutely fascinating. Tom Hanks narrates most of the book on the audio and is absolutely wonderful. It is one of my favourite audio books.
