“We are men only, a brief flare of the torch. Those to come may raise us or lower us as they please."

Madeline has done it again!! I am in awe of her writing style and admired her greek retellings very much ever since i read Circe. The Song of Achilles is a testament to how love and devotion leads us to commit sacrifices, regardless if it will end up in vain or not. That war is not only the physical manifestation of violence, but also the battle we wage between our pride and morals. This novel is so vividly written that I can almost taste what it feels like to love so deeply you cannot bear to part your soul with another person. Patrcolus and Achilles now resides in a place where they cannot be separated and it made me shed tears – out of pain and also out of happines.

P.S. I hope Madeline will write a Hades and Persephone retelling in the future ♡
