"Wholeness, she had learned, was not the absence of pain but the ability to hold it."

I am so overwhelmed with emotions rn after finishing this. Misaki's journey as a mother, a warrior, a wife, and a companion to her fellow women has completely left me in awe. Ever so often women are at the receiving end of violence and being silenced by the patriarchy. This novel captured the struggles women faced in a time where nothing much was expected of them - except for being an obedient wife. I love how Misaki embraced her shortcomings and use them to propel herself into a woman filled with strength, compassion and most importantly, love.

I will never be getting over this for a long time. I recommend you read it
