Well that was a wild ride of a book…
Really enjoyed this one and how fast paced it was. The first half definitely read as a huge major build up to everything being revealed. Some things felt predictable, but once the truth unravels I see why it read like that.

Audiobook: 4/5
*audiobook/physical combo read*
An enjoyable story. The title would make you think this book is all about assassins in the way we mostly know them, but this was not. I highly enjoyed the different perspective of assassins this story took. I liked that it was more focused on the solving and discovering who the culprit was rather than the killing. There was definitely a lot of world building packed in here. I think it was laid out pretty well and gave a clear perspective of the world. One theme I really enjoyed in this was the theme of building relationships.
Girton and his master Merela’s relationship was done really well. I like how you could see they cared for each other, but boundaries are set. I like how Merela is teaching him the ways of an assassin, but also the ways of basic human interaction. You could clearly see how those teachings help with being an assassin.
Girton’s relationships with Drusl and Rufra were also done well. I like how these relationships taught him about friendship and love. How losing a person you care for so deeply can change your perspective on life.

An entertaining fairytale read. It felt overall a cohesive story with touching on a few classic fairytale stories within it. It for sure is an interesting concept for a story. And I enjoyed the characters overall!

I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book. Knowing about the characters and this world already made it smoother to dive right into the book. The plot is super engaging and intense at times. It was fast paced with past foes and new foes appearing.
I liked Alex and Luna even more in this one. I am really enjoying how their friendship is developing. I loved how Alex made a choice of what Luna can mean to him.I was so happy to see Luna officially become Alex’s apprentice.

I really liked the concept of the story, but I found myself zoning out while reading unfortunately. It made it really hard to keep listening.

This was so cute and I enjoyed it so much! I adored watching the show as a kid in the late 90s yet I never read the books.
