Vanished: Tides of Destiny by Morgan Vela
5.0
Vanished: Tides of Destiny by Morgan Vela is book three in the Vanished Series. I’m going to start this review off by saying I’m such a huge fan of this author and series. To say I was was excited to read this book would be an understatement; I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this. Once I started I lost hours in this book, I couldn’t stop reading. This was incredible! This is Romantasy at its best. Morgan Vela once again does a masterful job with worldbuilding and descriptions of different places and people. The journey my emotions went on with this book! It makes you feel as if you are part of this world! Gosh am I still head over heels for these characters… Belynda, Drake and Callix will always hold a special place in my heart. The tension between Drake and Belynda was palpable… I could feel it through the pages. Then oh my Callix! His development… his true form!!! His love really shines through. (Drake is still my guy but darn is Callix giving him a run for his money) This was everything I could have wanted in this book, I honestly can’t say enough about how wonderful it was. Needless to say this is not a standalone and you do need to read these books in order. I can’t wait for the story to continue but like I said I’ve been hooked since book one. If you’re not reading this series, you need to start; Morgan Vela is hands down a fabulous author. This is my favorite read of 2024.
“I’m trying to fight this madness— this consuming desire to have you.”

Love Esq. by Devon Atwood
5.0
Love Esq by Devon Atwood is book three in the Love and Other Jobs Series. Okay, I’m going to start this off by saying I’m already a huge fan of this author as I haven’t read a book I didn’t love. Every book just gets better and better and this one is a prime example. This book is amazing! I tend to say this about each of Devon Atwood’s books but this one is a favorite. If you’re a fan of enemies to lovers, one bed, suspense and one mouthy female character this is absolutely the book for you! I read this book in a matter of hours, I couldn’t put it down. I was addicted! This book has everything: suspense, action, an amazing plot, humor, spice and fantastic characters! There’s such amazing character development and the way the plot progressed was phenomenal. Azura and Wolf were great together and the banter between them was just perfect. Their chemistry was off the charts and just a chef’s kiss in my opinion. I really fell in love the characters and it was nice to see my other favorites make an appearance. You can read this as a standalone but I do recommend reading the others, especially book two as it really is a great setup for this one. Also just to be on the safe side read the content warnings to make sure this is the book for you. I can’t say enough great things about this book/series it really is a fabulous read and Devon Atwood is an amazing author who really knows how to draw you in. I can’t recommend this enough! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

The Blood That Binds Us by Erin Mainord
5.0
The Blood That Binds Us by Erin Mainord is the first book I’m reading by this author and I am blown away by how amazing this book was! I lost hours while reading this book…hours! I saw a video on TikTok about this book so I immediately came over to Amazon to find out more about it and I will never regret that decision as I just found a new author who’s amazing. I love a enemies to lovers story and this book delivers that and more! Like dark fantasy, this is one heck of a tale. Love a good magic system, yep it has that as well! Love a good Villian, look no further. Want amazing characters, Wren and Sin have it in spades! There’s angst, suspense, secrets and the best part, it’s a slow burn. You can really feel the tension. I’m honestly obsessed with this book! I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side but everything about this book is beyond phenomenal. Worldbuilding has to be some of the best writing, it’s incredible. The plot twists…oh my gosh, I need book two! I don’t know how I’m going to wait until it comes out! Ah!!! But seriously reading the characters go through their struggles and tribulations really made an intriguing and compelling story. I will be forever grateful I found this author on TikTok. Hands down one of my favorite books. I can’t recommend this book and the author, Erin Mainord enough.

Tempted by Blood by Elle Maldonado
5.0
Tempted by Blood by Elle Maldonado is book two in the Severed Signet Series. It’s my favorite type of trope being an Enemies to Lovers Dark Romance. After reading the first book in this series, I was eagerly awaiting to get my hands on this one. I thought I loved book one but this one has taken the top spot. This was amazing! I absolutely could not put this book down, I read it in one sitting. I was so invested in the story I just decided to not attend to my responsibilities until I finished. Leni and Silas’s story was everything I could have wanted and more. Their banter and chemistry to me was fantastic, top tier, chef’s kiss. I loved reading the relationship developing between them, them learning from one another… having them form a bond. The plot was phenomenal full of twists and turns and moments that were unexpected. The writing was perfect as were the descriptions, it was easy to picture everything I was reading. Oh my gosh the ending!!! I can’t wait to read book three! If you’re not reading Elle Maldonado, you need to! I highly recommend this book!

A Mafia Mistress for Christmas: A Dark Mafia Christmas Romance by Brooke Harper
4.0
A Mafia Mistress for Christmas by Brooke Harper is a Dark Mafia Christmas Romance short story. This was a perfect read for the holiday season. I absolutely loved the characters immediately! Marco and Lacey were amazing. Boy, did the short tale take me on a ride with my emotions. Oh my gosh the spice/steam was so well done… chef’s kiss. My only complaint is I wish it was longer, but that’s just because of how much I liked the story. You give me anything mafia related and I’m in add in an undercover plot… perfect! If you’re looking for a quick read, definitely give this one a go!

No Pucking Way by May Dawson, C.R. Jane
5.0
No Pucking Way by C.R Jane and May Dawson is book one in the Rich Demons of Hockey. This book combines two of my favorite tropes: mafia and hockey. Not to mention it is also a why choose romance. There’s stalking, obsession, amnesia and a bunch of other themes. There’s some dark themes/issues so check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. I personally couldn’t put my kindle down, this book was so good! I finished it in about a day, before I knew it I was at the end of the book. The descriptions in the book was fantastic, I could clearly picture everything I was reading. The plot was so interesting and it blended all the tropes I mention earlier perfectly. My favorite character hands down is Kennedy, with everything she went through she still stands tall. Then there are the guys… oh my! They are possessive and protective. There are twists and turns…which I just ate up. But that cliffhanger of an ending, I don’t know how I’m going to wait for book two!

The Order: Unleashed by Nicole Autumn
4.0
The Order: Unleashed by Nicole Autumn is book two in the Secret Society Series. After reading the first book I couldn’t wait for this one! I had such high expectations and I devoured this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. There are more intense scenes than in the first one. That also being said you need to read the first book before this one. This is spice heavy but don’t be deterred because the plot is there. It’s well written and the world is interesting. I really felt like the characters were expanded even more in all the best ways. Loved seeing Amy be awesome with her magic. This book was incredible and I can’t wait to see where book three will take this story. Amazing writing by Nicole Autumn!

Philomena and The Seven Deaths: A Dark Gothic WhyChoose Romance by Kendra Moreno
4.0
Philomena and The Seven Deaths by Kendra Moreno, this is a why-choose dark romance. I’ve read other books by this author and I haven’t found a story I haven’t liked. When I heard that this is perfect for fans of Penny Dreadful TV series, I was even more intrigued. This book was incredible and I couldn’t put the book down. I read it in about a day… the opening chapters really caught my attention and it stated that way until the end. I love a good paranormal romance and this is definitely on my list of favorites. This is such a unique tale that had such amazing worldbuilding and descriptions. The characters feel fresh with new twists while being powerful, protective and relatable in a different way. The development in both the story and the people in it was so well done, especially Mena. She was so strong! I absolutely fell in love with her and her “monsters.” This was the perfect amount of plot and spice for me. I can’t do this book justice, I highly recommend that you check this book out for yourselves.

Decking My Halls by H.N. DeFore
4.0
Decking My Halls by H.N DeFore is part of the Holidays & Hijinks Series. I’ve read a few other novellas by this author and I’ve never been disappointed by the book. This book has to be one of my favorites that H.N DeFore has written, I flew through this novella. I absolutely loved it… plus have you seen the cover? It’s great and immediately caught my eye. This had the perfect mixture of plot and spice. It’s perfect for a quick read. But personally I loved these characters and this story so I would totally be down for it to be expanded into something longer since I couldn’t get enough. There’s amazing character and worldbuilding not to mention the action and spice. It’s written so well that you feel like you’re in the room with Lucy as she finds out different things. Don’t even get me started on Lucas, loved him. The chemistry between him and Luce was just fire! So well done! There are a few trigger warnings so make sure this novella is your cup of tea before you dive in. But trust me, H.N DeFore stories are so worth it!

A Perfect Life by Julia E. McColgan
5.0
A Perfect Life by Julia McColgan is book two in The Perfect World Series. After the first book and the cliffhanger it left me on, I couldn’t wait to dig into this one. I was eagerly awaiting it; let me tell you it was one hundred percent worth the wait!!! This book was amazing and I completely fell in love with this world all over again. The writing this author does just takes your reading to a whole different level. I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. I devoured this book in one sitting, I couldn’t put the book down nor did I want to. I thought the first book was an emotional rollercoaster but this one, I was unprepared. These characters are written phenomenally by being flawed, real and understandable. This book shattered my heart while simultaneously gluing it back together at the same time. What these characters go through is heartbreaking but the chemistry and tension in this book is off the charts great. The writing is so well done that you feel like you're on a journey with the characters through all the good and the bad. Book two is fantastic and has introduced me to another character I’m head over heels for…Leslie Day! I will mention this book ends in a cliffhanger. I absolutely can’t wait for the next one. If Julia McColgan isn’t on your TBR, you need to add her. You won’t regret it.
