Leona by Evie Black

5.0

Leona by Evie Black is book two in the Agents of Balance and Chaos Series. After reading the first book I absolutely fell in love with this author’s writing. When I read the blurb of this book I was so excited to dive back into this world again. I devoured this book in a day, I didn’t want to put my kindle down. I forgot about my responsibilities because I was so invested in this story. The worldbuilding is incredible and the characters are fantastic. I do recommend reading the first book as the plots are connected plus this series is just that good. This book took me on a ride with the plot, the humor and everything else that was in between. One of the best things about this book is how well the characters are written, it was as if you could feel their emotions as you read along. It also was described so well you could clearly imagine everything as you are reading. Leona is such a great FMC; she’s strong inside and out. Don’t even get me started on Zandros; I loved his character so much. What a great couple, the balance that they brought one another. I can’t recommend this series enough; Evie Black is hands down one of my favorite authors. This book and the one before so not disappoint. Amazing and I can’t wait for the next one.

The Quill and the Vial by Bree Moore

4.0

The Quill and The Vial by Bree Moore is book one in the Plague King Chronicles. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but after finishing this book I’m looking forward to more. I read this book fairly quickly and I enjoyed it. This is a nice easy read that has a fresh feeling to it with the magic system. This is a nice and cozy fantasy tale with a slow burn romance. One of the highlights to me was how the banter between Jayce and Sav was done. Her seriousness and his silliness was a great combo. While I did like the story there were certain parts to me that felt a little rushed and needed more worldbuilding or description. The character development with Jayce was good but felt off to me with her powers barely being there but bam there. But at the same time the book was written well and I’m intrigued where the plot will go. With all that said I do like the mystery of it all and I’m going to eagerly await book two.

Sin With Me by Haley Tyler, Bex Dawn

Sin With Me by Bex Dawn and Haley Tyler is book one in the Divinity Falls Series. This is actually the first book I’ve  read by these two authors. But what a read it was! When I read the blurb of the book and saw it was an Adam and Eve retelling I was instantly down to read it. I love a good retelling and this one was up there. I will mention that this is a dark romance so check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. This book may not be for everyone but I definitely flew through reading it. It was written incredibly well and it really pulls you in from the beginning. This read was intense on all accounts and it took my emotions on one heck of a ride. My heart broke so many times for the characters. Speaking of those characters the way they were all written was amazing; it was as if you could feel their emotions as your own. Incredible writing! I don’t know how to describe the plot of this book besides dark and taboo because I don’t want to give anything away. I would one hundred percent recommend this book if you like a really well done dark romance.

Curse of the Broken Prince by J.L Jackola is book three in the Wicked and Fated Series. This book can be read as a standalone as I haven’t read the other ones before this one. But with that being said with how much I loved this book I will definitely be reading the others. When I read the blurb of this book it was right up my alley being a spicy fantasy book. Which is one of my personal favorites so I had high hopes for this book. This was mostly spicy with a side of plot but I still enjoyed it immensely. This read definitely pulled me and kept my attention. The plot that was written was really good and interesting. The spice was well done and a chef's kiss and it was SPICY. I loved the characters and how they were with one another, how they fought for each other. I’m intrigued with this world and will definitely read more. If you love a well done spicy fantasy book then this is for you.

Of Candy and Betrayal by J.L Jackola is book one in the Wicked and Twisted Tales Series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but wow, did I dig this book. When I read that it was a dark and spicy retelling of Hansel and Gretel, I was all in. This book was really well done and I really liked how the author created this world. I do recommend checking your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. This book took me about a day to finish, it grabbed my attention and kept going all the way until the end. This book took my emotions on a whirlwind of a ride. I went from disliking Hunter to liking him back and forth. I did like reading the side of him that only Gemma was able to bring out of him. I’m a fan of retellings and this is up there on my list. Really good book!

The Earth and The Flame by R.D. Baker, R.D. Baker, Rihannon Baker

The Earth and The Flame by RD Baker is book two in the The Shadow Drawn Series. After reading the first book I can’t describe how much I was looking forward to this book. This is a dark fantasy romance. So just to be on the cautious side, check your trigger warnings. I read this book in one sitting, I was so invested in this book I just forgot to adult for the day. Complete page turner, I couldn’t get enough. There was action, spice and don’t get me started on the journey my emotions went through. This book was so well written and the plot draws you in just like the first one did. RD Baker has an amazing talent making you feel like you’re there in the story experiencing it just as much as the characters. I will mention you have to read book one because this book continues that… but this book is mostly told from Tal’s POV. I can’t recommend these books enough, they’re so good! RD Baker is fantastic weaver of tales, you should definitely check out the books.

Carnage by Shantel Tessier

5.0

Carnage by Shantel Tessier is based in the Lords' world and can be read as a standalone.
I haven’t found a book that Shantel Tessier has written that I didn’t love. I read the blurb of this book and I knew I was going to feel the same way I always do, my expectations were high. Not only was every single one met but exceeded. Just when I think these books can’t get any better, they do. This book is dark and full of trigger warnings. I would give them I glance to be on the safe side. This book was intense and addictive in all the best ways. I think I was hooked and all in from the first couple chapters. I devoured this book. This book took me on one heck of a ride. My emotions went on a workout ranging from laughing to anger to sadness. The writing is incredible and the worldbuilding is fabulous. But hands down I loved the characters of Saint and Ashtyn. I couldn’t stop reading about them. If you love a great dark romance, look no further. I can’t wait for more books. Highly recommend it!

Born to Die by Rebecca L.M. Reed

Born to Die by Rebecca L.M Reed is book one in the The Blood Moon Series. This is the first book I’m reading by this author. After reading the blurb I was super interested on getting my hands on it. The book has a Hunger Games vibe to it but with twists. People are chosen for the Blood Moon Hunts and it is basically what are you willing to do to survive. There’s great worldbuilding and the book made me wonder if I was in this world would I save myself from starving or even death. There plenty of suspense to keep you reading. I will mention this book ends in a cliffhanger. I’m curious how everything will play out in the next book.

The Lost King by Raven Storm

The Lost King by Raven Storm is book seven in the Rise of the Drakens Series. This is the first book I’m reading by this author. I haven’t read any of the books before this one but I didn’t feel lost or that I was missing anything. This story was really good, I really liked the world/worldbuilding that was created! This was a fast read as it was also a page turner. It was very descriptive and it was easy to imagine yourself there while reading. I really enjoyed the characters and how they were developed. Reading Fane and Sakala overcoming and flourishing despite what they thought about themselves and what others thought was great. I love a good rivals to lovers story and this had so many amazing moments. This book definitely is making me go and read all the others before it while simultaneously waiting for the next.

Revolt by K.A. Knight

5.0

Revolt by K.A Knight is part of the Legends and Love Series. I will be honest the first thing I noticed when I saw the book was the cover, it’s so incredibly eye-catching. Then I read the blurb and I was hands down invested, I needed to read it. I’m so glad I made that decision, this book was so good! I couldn’t put it down, I was invested after reading only the first couple of chapters. I needed more to the point I read the book in one sitting, I kind of forgot about my responsibilities with this one. I will admit I’m a huge fan of K.A Knight’s writing and I haven’t found a story that I haven’t loved. I really enjoyed this world that was created and with the descriptions it was easy to imagine yourself a part of it all. This was an amazing page turner that had humor, spice and was overall just a great time to read. But my favorite was the writing of the characters, Reign and her four guys. Each had their own unique personalities and stories. My heart went out to them a few times, especially Dal. This book really brought it all and it was incredible. I can’t wait for the next book! This is an immediate recommend.
