The Incubus Curse by Nikki Lennox

The Incubus Curse by Nikki Lennox is book one in The Court of the Ancients. This is the first book I’m reading by this author and I must say my mind was blown. (In a good way of course) I first came across this author on TikTok and a video for this book, I must say my interest was immediately piqued. I knew I just had to get my eyes on it and I’m so insanely happy that I did. I finished this book so fast, I was hooked from the opening chapters all the way until the end. Speaking of, I will mention it does end on a cliffhanger. This had everything that I enjoy in a fantasy read; it has romance, spice, action, adventure and was a bit of a thriller as well. The writing was done really well and had a steady plot throughout. One of the biggest things I liked was how everything was described, it made it easier for me to imagine what I was reading. My favorite part and even what I loved the most was the chemistry between Dustin and Freya… it was top tier. Both of them were great characters and I’m so interested in where everything goes next. I honestly am eagerly awaiting book two. This was hands down a fabulous read and I can say I’m definitely a fan of Nikki Lennox’s writing abilities.

The Queen's Shadow by Alexandra St Pierre

The Queen's Shadow by Alexandra St. Pierre is book three in The Origin's Daughter Series. I binged this series… well the three so far back to back. I'm addicted to this author's writing and storytelling, it’s incredible. This book is not a standalone and you do need to read them all in order. This book is over 750 pages so makes sure you set some time aside because once you start you’re not going to want to stop. At least that’s how it was for me, I lost my entire day without even realizing it. I reads for hours and it didn’t seem like any time had passed because I was so engrossed in the story. I mean the characters and all their development was fantastic and outstanding… I lived for it. Honestly some of my favorite things were the banter, the romance and some really well done spice. The story itself took my emotions on such a ride ranging from sad, laughter to happy. Then there were also times I was clutching my kindle right and on the edge of my seat. This series is truly breathtaking in its writing, plot and descriptions. If you love yourself a great romantasy I can’t recommend this series enough. Add it to your TBR, you won’t be disappointed! I personally can’t wait for the next book.

The Stricken by Morgan Shamy

The Stricken by Morgan Shamy was such an amazing read. I’ve read another book by this author which I loved so I had an idea of the writing style. This book just completely blew me away. I will admit that the cover was the first thing I noticed but once I read the back of it I knew I was going to be in for one incredible journey. I read this book in a day; once I started I was pretty much hooked from the beginning. This was just a full blown action packed dark YA book that has such a clever plot. There were so many twists and turns there were times I was gripping my kindle or literally on the edge of my seat. Plus that twist at the end!  The characters were so well done and interesting. I loved how I kept second guessing and having a hard time trusting. The worldbuilding was phenomenal and the book descriptions were so well done you could imagine all the words on the page. I think this book has overtaken my favorite spot from this author. If you’re a fan of fantasy books then you need to check this one out. The story is just so unique and compelling… I highly recommend!

Love JD by Devon Atwood

Love JD by Devon Atwood is book four in the Love and Other Jobs Series. This author is immediately a go to read whenever a new book is coming out. The writing in this book is phenomenal and each and every time the new book takes place as a favorite. This one was no exception. This has all of my favorite things… age gap, fake dating and it’s a romcom; also it has spice. This is technically a standalone but I recommend reading the other books before this so you can be fully invested in the world. I finished this book in a day, I could not put this book down, so so good! I adored Zev and Isla’s story. I related so much to her suffering from an illness that isn’t seen but can affect your life greatly. But her strength and determination was amazing and truly touched my heart. I loved Zev so much… the way he protects and the fact he is the sweetest, I couldn’t get enough reading about him. I enjoyed the way their story was developed and told. Their chemistry and banter was top tier and just overall amazing. This book is fantastic and another home run from Devon Atwood! I can’t recommend this book/series enough.

Ties That Bind by Celeste Night

Ties That Bind by Celeste Night is a Second Chance, hidden child, mafia-isk romance. I’ve read other books by this author so I knew I was going to be a fan of this one as well. Well boy was I right, I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down, I read it in a few hours. I was hooked almost immediately. This was written so well with a great plot and amazing descriptions; it was so easy to feel what the characters were feeling. Speaking of said characters, I really enjoyed reading Nia Ian’s Enzo’s story. She was strong yet stubborn; her character was so relatable. He was just a perfect morally gray man. Their character development was so good! I ate this story up! It was sweet yet spicy and had everything I could have wanted out of this standalone. I loved how things came to a head. But have no fears there is a happily ever after! This is a perfect book if you like reads that are a bit dark with some spicy good times. Plus Enzo is just a chef’s kiss of a character. Also have you seen the cover! It’s so pretty!!!  I can’t recommend Celeste Night enough… all the books I’ve read by this author are fabulous.

Riverside Warrior by Jess Peters

Riverside Warrior by Jess Peters is book one in the Riverside Docks Crew. I’m a huge fan of this author and I don’t think I’ve found a book that Jess Peters has written that I didn’t enjoy. This book is no different, I’m hooked! This book is amazing! When I sat down to read it, I devoured it in a day. This had everything I could have wanted… action, suspense and some great spiciness. I really enjoyed how it seemed likely that a relationship was spawned from well… a “rocky” start. I also was a fan of how each character had their own complex personalities and how everything formed with this why choose romance. I also found myself digging the gray vibes that the story gave off. The worldbuilding was good and I was satisfied with how the plot was progressing. I can’t wait to see if Cassie gets her revenge. Cause I’m a fan of how strong and how she is such a fighter. Don’t get me started on the guys… I kind of want more! (Must read the next book now!)  I will mention that this book has some dark themes so I would check content warnings to be on the safe side. But in my opinion this is a great start to a new series (new to me) and I’m excited to continue on. I definitely recommend this book if you dig a book that’s mafia/gang related romance.

Accepting Agatha by Victoria Blue

4.0

Accepting Agatha by Victoria Blue is book one in the Bombshells of Brentwood. This is the first book I’m reading by this author but when I read the book blurb I was instantly interested! This was definitely an opposite attracted book and I do love a good story centering on that trope. I read the book in about a day, and I enjoyed the tone of the story. This was for me a well done Contemporary romance that has complex characters and emotions. It’s the aftermath of having a black out night in Vegas and waking up married. I enjoyed the writing and how the plot progressed. I loved reading the growth of the characters and the growth of their relationship. This book definitely took my emotions on a ride. Both Agatha and Carmen had such relatable personalities; it was easy to imagine their situation. I want to say more but I don’t want to spoil anything! I honestly loved how they balanced one another and their dynamic as a whole. Some of the tropes that are in this book are opposite attractions, accidental marriage and forced proximity to name a few. This overall is such a solid love story. The writing of the book was well done and very believable. I could imagine everything as I was reading. (I love when a book can do that) I can’t wait to read more from this author and to read the next book in the series. (When it releases… I have a bit to wait!) I wholeheartedly recommend this book!

Demons Embrace by T.A Knights is book one in The Crescent Chronicles. Oh my gosh, was this book a great read! I love a good supernatural story and this was written incredibly. When I started, I couldn’t nor did I want to stop reading. I was invested in the story from the first few chapters. I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. This is fast paced with plenty of action, adventure to keep you going until the end. Plus the spice was so…so good. The characters were developed well and the demons/other paranormal entities was fantastic. I loved the mix. I don’t want to give anything away because you should definitely read this story, it’s so worth it. One of my personal favorites was Seth, he was just so sarcastic and funny. My others were obviously Amelia and Oliver, she was strong…independent and Oliver was someone who went from being closed off to learning to let people in. I loved the development of characters. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Definitely recommended!

Clean by Nikki Pennington is book one in the Cherrywood Creek Series. I’m already a fan of how this author weaves their tales so when I read the blurb for this book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands/eyes on it. When I started this book, I couldn’t put my kindle down. What a story! What a rollercoaster of a ride my emotions took with Willow and Elias’ story. My heart cracked at times. These characters were written so well, it was able to understand and connect with them. The chemistry and tension was so on point. The strength that they have is incredible! And oh my the spice was just a chefs kiss. Elias is just so incredibly swoon-able and romantic. I just loved this story so much. Everything about this tale is great from the writing to the plot. I’m already looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend reading this fabulous book by Nikki Pennington.

Humility: Aladdin a Dark Contemporary Retelling by Brooklyn Cross

Humility by Brooklyn Cross is book one in the Virtues Fairy Tales Series. It’s a Dark Retelling of Aladdin! Oh my god! This book has skyrocketed to the top of my favorites that Brooklyn has ever written. I’m still spellbound over this book, it’s so good! When I sat down to read this I never imagined that I would lose my day, I was engrossed. I could not stop reading till I finished. This had everything I could have wanted… why choose, a revenge plot, forced proximity and second chance to name a few. I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. I loved this book so much! The worldbuilding and plot was so enticing; the writing was phenomenal. (Trust me, I read a lot of retellings and this is one of the best.) The characters were written beautifully; you could feel their emotions through the pages. Jasmine was strong, determined and absolutely knew her worth. I loved her interactions with the love interests unique to each. Also did I mention the mafia aspect? The whole experience was just top tier. And the spice was so…so good, a chef’s kiss if you will. I can’t begin to recommend this book enough. I just finished this book and can’t wait for the next installment in the series.
