Veins of Darkness by Elizabeth A. Drysdale
5.0
Veins of Darkness by Elizabeth A Drysdale is a young adult romantasy that I absolutely had to read. When I saw the tagline of… “In death’s embrace, she discovers the price of love” I knew without a doubt this book had to be in my life. Let me say I devoured it; I read it in a matter of hours… my attention was captured to the end; my kindle did not get lowered once. I absolutely loved the forbidden love vibe and what would you do for love? What lengths would you go? I really enjoyed these characters. It was easy to imagine the situations. I especially liked Cora and watching her come into her strength. Reading her embrace her true self and shrugging off the expectations was honestly a favorite of mine. The author did such a fantastic job with the writing that I felt transported to this world. The characters felt real as did their emotions was a highlight. This has to be one of my favorite young adult books I’ve read in a long time. I’m hoping for a sequel with different POV’s. There’s so much I want to say but don’t want to spoil anything; what I can say is you have to read this book. I highly recommend if you love a good clean romance with a gothic vibe in a romantasy setting. Two thumbs way up!

A Mating of Convenience by Dakota Cockaday
5.0
A Mating of Convenience by Dakota Cockaday is book one in the Underworld Wolves Series. First things first have you seen the cover of this book? It’s absolutely gorgeous, I immediately loved it. Second is when I saw this book by this author I knew it would be an instant read for me. I’m a huge fan; I haven’t been let down by a book yet. Needless to say this was an incredible read, it’s not super long clocking in at under 200 pages but you’ll finish before you know it. I loved that this was a little off the beaten path for the author but still had that uniqueness that I enjoy. Mix in mafia, wolves and snarky characters, it’s a instant hit. I loved Emily’s character so much because of her relatability; she was strong and had such a great personality. Then the end was just chaos and I ate up every minute of it. This book was written so well but I expect nothing less. The descriptions were great; I felt as if I closed my eyes I could imagine it all. I can’t wait to see what’s in store as I’m eager for more. Hands down this was an easy five star read for me, would definitely recommend it.

Trip Through Your Wires by D.M. Simmons
5.0
Trip through your Wires by D.M Simmons is book two in the Curveballs and Kisses series. When Jake and Jenica made their appearance in book one I was so excited to read more about them. I would recommend reading the first book as it’s an interconnected series and these characters first made their debut there. I devoured this book so incredibly fast; I couldn’t nor wanted to put my kindle down. I would suggest reading content warnings just to be on the safe side. I dug the retro-theme the romance had and all the 90’s references. There’s so many good tropes in this book that I enjoy reading such as found family, grumpy/sunshine, he falls first and the best part it’s a baseball romance on top of it all. My gosh the chemistry between Jake and Jenica was amazing! It was just so good; then together with the tension was one of my favorite things about this book. I loved how Jake gave her space without letting her go and he was respectful; showing her that he was there. Jenica my heart aches for her and how people let her down. I could connect to her and everything that she had been through. This book took my emotions on a rollercoaster then let’s add in the intrigue of Cherry Grove. I thought this book was written so well with such an interesting plot that it gave me the one more chapter syndrome. The descriptions of places, characters made you connect with the words you are reading. Not only that but you could feel the emotions in this book as if they were your own. D.M Simmons is an amazing writer and I’ve loved every book that this author has released, I highly recommend that you check out this out. Huge fan and a two thumbs up read from me.

Raising the Stakes by C.L. Ledford
4.0
Raising the Stakes by C.L Ledford is part of the Dark Era Series. I was already a fan of this author’s writing before going into this book. But let me just say this book just took it to another level. After reading the blurb I knew this in my wheelhouse… dark romance, enemies to lovers, a marriage of convenience. I read this in about a day, it caught my attention and kept it until the end. I really enjoyed reading TC and Aurora’s past and them growing into something different. I did like their chemistry and the spice was just fire. It did take me a bit to warm up to TC but once I did, I was all in with him. He’s a broody tattoo guy, so of course I would wind up loving him. This was full of tension, intensity, action, a twist and suspense. Overall I really enjoyed this book even if I have unanswered questions after that bomb drop. So I’m unsure how I’m feeling about the ending. I thought it was written well and the plot was addicting while moving at a consistent pace. A page turner that’s for sure. It was described well where you could picture/imagine everything clearly. If you’re a fan of dark romance, than I definitely recommend that you check out this book. C.L Ledford is an amazing author who really knows how to write interesting characters and stories.

Love Op by Devon Atwood
5.0
Love Op by Devon Atwood is book five in the Love and Other Jobs Series. Oh my gosh I was really looking forward to this book, I was so excited to read it. When I heard who the characters were going to be; I was eagerly awaiting to get my hands on it. Let me tell you it was worth the wait, I devoured it. I read the whole book in one sitting and didn’t even think about being an adult until I was finished. This has some of my favorite tropes such as rivals to lovers (yes!) and forced proximity. But hands down my favorite element of this book is the banter followed by the chemistry between Mattie and “Ghost”! I honestly enjoyed reading their relationship plus I absolutely dug how she was constantly pushing his buttons. There’s spice in this book not a lot but the perfect balance. I liked the whole cat and mouse storyline that had a touch of danger and the humor just made this an incredible read. This was written marvelously with the plot being interesting and engaging. The characters are just beautifully written and that makes me smile. This whole book is just a top tier experience. Devon Atwood is an incredible author and I can’t recommend her books enough. This series is just on another level of great, if you’re looking for some RomCom books then really look no further.

The Dragon Empire by Heather McCorkle
5.0
The Dragon Empire by Heather McCorkle is book one in the Niflheimr Series. I love the way this author writes and the ability to suck me into the story. I have read so many books by Heather and each one is just a refreshing read. When I read the book blurb for this book I knew I was going to be in for an amazing journey and I was! I devoured this book in one sitting! It gave me the “just one more chapter” syndrome. I don’t think I lowered my kindle once, I was so invested. This book is exactly what I wanted, it touched everything that a dragon fantasy story should have. I think my favorite element in this whole book was how great worldbuilding is and how descriptive everything feels. I was able to imagine everything with perfect clarity. I loved reading the hard decisions that had to be made for the better; to go against everything you were taught to believe. I absolutely enjoyed/loved the characters but especially Grendar… I was rooting for him so hard in this book. Something about him just really reverberates with me. This book is a page turner for sure. It’s written wonderfully with an addictive plot that moves at an incredible pace. I can’t wait to read more! This is definitely going into my favorites pile. Heather McCorkle is a phenomenal author and I urge you to check out not only this book but all of the other ones as well. You’ll be in for an amazing adventure!

Rekindled Hearts by Jess Peters
4.0
Rekindled Hearts by Jess Peters is book three in the Riverside Docks Crew Series. I’m such of a fan of this author as I haven’t found a book that hasn’t caught my attention. I will mention to check your content warnings to be on the safe side. This is a dark romance with a why choose storyline mixed in with violence. Once I sat down to read this book, I was all in. This isn’t a standalone and you must read the series in order. While I’m enjoying the storyline of this series I’m a little hit or miss with one of the male characters (looking at you Chris!) I’m absolutely loving Frankie and how much he loves Cass and how possessive he is over her. When it comes to our FMC her decisions in this book had me on the fence. I still like her overall and I’m excited to read more. She’s still a light in the darkness. Also I’m absolutely digging that there’s more to Tiger than I thought. There’s also a really well done redemption arc that was done that I really liked. This story is progressing at a steady pace and I’m still vibing with all the spice. I can’t wait to see how this all wraps up in the next book. If you haven’t read Jess Peters you really should as there are so many great books by this author!

The Dragon and the Butterfly by Abby Simpson
4.0
The Dragon and the Butterfly by Abby Simpson is the first book I’m reading by this author and I really enjoyed it. If I’m honest the title is what first caught my attention but once I read the blurb, it was a done deal. It took me about a day to read the whole thing, I barely wanted to put my kindle down. This is a historical fiction while not usually my cup of tea, there was intriguing things that pulled me in. I did find myself googling the time period to better verse myself in this world as I don’t have my knowledge of the royalties/royalty of times gone by. There is a lot going on in this book, I personally would have loved a legend to help me keep the families, children and marriages all straight. There is a family tree at the end of the book though which I found much later. At times I found myself making notes to help me along. Maud was such an interesting character and I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about her. This book is filled with political intrigue, schemes and just interesting character dynamics throughout the book. I thought Abby Simpson did a great job mending truth and fiction together. It was well written, had a consistently steady plot while great descriptions. I could imagine this time piece very well. This is the first book in the series so keep that in mind. I would recommend this read if you enjoy historical fiction with a splash of romance; this to me is very much a timepiece. Overall I enjoyed the book and found it to be interesting and well versed.

Zodiac Hybrids by Leann Belle
5.0
Zodiac Hybrids by Leann Belle is book one in the Monsters of Graves Academy Series. This is a Dark Paranormal Academy Romance that I was I was eager to sink my teeth into just from reading the book blurb. I read this book in less than a day I was just so intrigued from the start. The book clocks in at 260ish pages but if you’re like me you’ll fly through it. I will mention to check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. This has to be my favorite take on shifters and zodiacs… it was such a great spin. This book took me on such a journey especially with the FMC, Lila. I’m eager for her story to unfold. The MMC’s oh my gosh were there moments I wanted to reach through my kindle and give them a good hard shake. But I do love me some morally gray men with a possessive streak. This does have an enemies to lovers and student teacher vibes which I’m all about. This book was written extremely well with such a steady plot not to mention great worldbuilding. The book descriptions were amazing and I could imagine everything I was reading. Overall I had a great reading experience and I’m eagerly awaiting plus super excited for the next book in this series. Highly recommend that you check out, Leann Belle.

Small Town Girl by Dakota Cockaday
5.0
Small Town Girl by Dakota Cockaday is part of the Wild Hare Ranch Gentlemen's Club Series. I really enjoyed this quick read but then again I’m a fan of this author and haven’t found a book by them I haven’t loved. It’s a short novella clocking in at 55ish pages but don’t let the length fool you this is a well done story! This is a cute insta-love tale that has a dose of werewolves that has funny moments and moments that just make you smile. This author is truly a talent in the ability to make you able to lose yourself while reading. The writing is great and the plot is just so good and cute. I highly recommend that you check out Dakota’s books; I know I’m eagerly awaiting the next one.
