Frenemies with Benefits by Lydia Sharp

This book was so freaking good it hit all the marks I laughed I cringed (in a good way) I swooned I even almost cried I loved this so so so much. This book does "Enemies to Lovers" and fake dating so well in a combined story of young love and finding yourself after high school. We got to follow Jessie and Benjamin as they end high school and spend a summer finding love from the silly deal made on graduation day.

Thank you NetGalley for the early copy of this book.
I was very lucky to ready this book early and while I went in to this book expecting something slightly different then I got I still enjoyed the story. I was expecting a Gothic Fantasy Romance with some mystery involved. I Loved the Atmosphere in this book, the Gothic Witchy small town vibes, However I do feel there were a few times when way to much description was given and it pulled me out of the story. The romance in this book was very sporadic and lacking, which since I expected it to have more of focus that is my fault and not the authors since we really only got it in the last 25-30% and the FMC drove me insane but I think by the end of the book the reason she was written that way made more sense. I did enjoy the world and the writing and am anxious to know what happens next.

First I can not even believe I got to read this book early by winning a Goodreads giveaway but I feel so freaking blessed!
This freaking book!!! I knew going in I was going to love it, I loved Mische from the moment we met her in The Serpent and the Wings of Night but boy did was I still blown away. Carrissa's writing has this way of just sucking me in and capturing my attention I found my self not wanting to come back to reality the farther into the book I got. This book is the first in the Shadowborn Duet and the 3rd in the Crowns of Nyaxia Series so we were already familiar with a bit of the back story and the world as it is. This book allows us a glimpse of the past as we get to traverse the complex layers leading to the underworld and travel the paths of the dead with our characters as they are facing a number of trials on a mission from their gods. This book got all the emotions from me and the ending had my jaw on the floor.

Darkwielder: A Whispers of Dust & Darkness Prequel Novella by Sarah Zimm
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Decent book with a good backstory to help us understand the darkweilder a little more from the first book. Being less than 100 pages long it is hard to give this more than 3 stars and at this time I do not know if it will be a necessary read along with the duology but it was quick and easy to read.
