A killer, thrilling, terrifying story. The beginning got off to a bit of a description-heavy start, weighing the story down... but as you go on, you become enthralled by the protagonist's mistakes. You find yourself looking down at your own hands, making sure each finger still works. That's all I'll say - it instills a necessary fear of the cold you need if you're one to be outdoors often. I'm glad I learned my lesson here rather than in the North.

A wonderful, informative, tragic read. Read it all in one or two sittings. I learned a lot about how one should not reckon with nature in the ways Chris and the author had done; and by the end of this, I somehow met Chris McCandless. I am grateful for that experience. I'm not sure what it means, but I appreciate it.

An overall fun read. Great tension building, characters, and plot. I had no idea what the end was going to reveal up until the end! I enjoyed it quite a bit and look forward to the HBO adaption - here's to hoping it does this justice.

The beginning was much more interesting than the last half of the book.

It was a very good read, at least in the moment. It was very very thrilling and exciting to read, and I found myself hooked (I couldn't put it down). I had to know what happened and what was going to happen. I also liked the blending of science (however accurate) and nature into the novel, which is what originally brought me into it as a nature enthusiast. Some things make less sense the more you think about them, but that's only after the read. You've got to suspend your disbelief just a little bit.

A pleasure to read. I love the information on nature I can take away; the prose is the cherry on top. A wonderful story.

A decent book overall. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was definitely more worth reading. Disliked a few things, such as how addiction was portrayed, and how each character's voice was similar. Enjoyed the writing style after hating it in the beginning, and found the plot to be a little plain toward the end. However, it's definitely a fun thing to read, so I wouldn't not recommend it - especially for any music lovers out there.
