A little cross-ocean kidnapping/human trafficking, a grand assisted escape, and a magically forced proximity makes for a totes chef's kiss monster fckr.
If you've played World of Warcraft this story will have you kicking your feet; or at least, it did for me. I'm also loving how Riley approaches the language barrier in each book. So far, the couples have overcome their loquacious shortcomings in very unique ways. This story has the most creative solution to this dilemma and I ate it up.
For anyone cringing over the sorta-kinda-but-not-really-ish cheating in the earlier books you can breathe easy because there is none of that in this story; just she and he running through the jungle to become domesticated pirates :)

Who doesn't love the good ole wounded soldier and nurse romance? Nobody-fight me.
We have Blizzek from book 1, he's still enlisted in the war but at the beginning of this book he's injured badly and tries to crawl away, only to black out somewhere in the forest. Now, cue lovely sweet natured human widow who lives on a tiny farm deep in the forest. She lost her husband in the war and after being alone for a year she decides to help how she can; healing. She stumbles upon our MMC and drags his big orc body back to her home and continues to nurse his wounds.
Right away we know something is sparking between them irrespective of the growls and snarls. I loved this mini lil slow burn situationship they had going on in the cabin while playing doctor. I won't spoil anything but OMFG I SOBBED. THE AUDACITY of this third-act breakup.
No cheating in this story, however, there is a very adorable like sickenly sweet comfort rebound'ish'inda. NGL I was kinda rooting for the competition. I said what I said.
I vote: Read it

Hmm? Okay, so first, the good: I could feel the Flanagan influence, and I agree with many of the other reviews that this is a thriller more than a horror—but I don't think either label will change a reader's opinion. The first, maybe third, of the book, is done so well that it kept my interest and made me instantly connect with the characters. However, after that, the story just dragged on, and I felt myself lose touch with the characters and maybe even started to dislike them—nothing wrong with unlikeable characters, though, so I just took it in stride.
I can see myself reading more from this author, and PPP always puts out bangers so overall I'll recommend this book to thriller readers :)

I really do love a good alien fated mates fckr 🤌🏼
So we have a not so cool ‘hunt’ that some alien overlords hold each year for a colony of humans on a moon (fyi nobody hunted is consenting 😒). Anyways, the hunt we see brings a special guest, like, the overlord to the overlords—and he’s all “wtf is all this? Oh, wait, is that my fated mate?”
Basically, our MMC didn’t know nothing about this hunt and when he learns all the awful details he’s all like “oh hell nah.” So, that’s cool. Our FMC is a human-alien hybrid who’s kinda a tinkering nerd and I’ve never loved an FMC more 🫶🏼
Finally, the rep in this book is amaze balls with the ways religion, race, and culture are woven throughout. Stunning.
