two stars bc it kept me interested enough to know what happens but honestly other than that, what the actual hell??????? im so???????? just what????????? like cool concpet but i dont like how it was done, it made me so uncomfortable. like the characters kept not communicating and making the worse choices possible. the beginning started out spooky but the author just tried to give it a more positive ending?? i dont think that fits??? and i couldnt stand the characters. this literally reminds me of A Lesson In Vengeance, and i did not like that book at all. i cannot stand miscommunication and toxic wlw relationships.
but its honestly far more tragic than king lear<3

i liked it, but i could have done with out the sex scenes.
it was actually really cool to see the affects of immigrating to america being poc. i knew it was difficult and hard, but i guess i didn’t truly understand it, reading this book opened my eyes more. i just simply dont vibe with how it didnt quotation marks to show conversations, it made it too easy for me to get lost in who was talking and who wasnt, which is why it wasnt a higher rating, but over all i liked it<3

Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado

i just didnt like the main character, like i get where she’s coming from with feeling inferior to her best friend but i just couldn’t stand it. like there’s definitely an important message, but it was buried under a ton of talk about boys, romance and sex. like i thought it was gonna be about charlie finding her worth without the focus on romance, but it just wasnt. i liked the message at the end and i could relate with her about the feelings of inferiority but some of her decisions irked me.
