Omg the Latinx rep in this >>>> I was so fucking happy to have started on A. H. Cunningham books with this simply for the fact that the three Brazilian brothers are just so hot and wonderful ☺️ can’t wait to see the whole found family find their love on the next books!
5 ⭐️ as a reread is crazy for me but omg do I love this story! picked up this audiobook since it was free with audible subscription and it did not disappoint a second time, they are perfect for each other and Liz is my fav of the original girls
I was honestly super scared I wasn’t gonna like this book since the second one was honestly a disappointment for me of the series coming from such a good first book but oh my God I’m so glad I did because this, there I say, is my favorite one of the series so far?? The spice is always next level, but Jonas Wolfe had such a dirty mouth and the narrator with an English accent really just took everything to the next level! Highly recommend the audiobook too 🤭 this makes me excited to read the next ones! Heavy on check trigger warnings tho!!
ngl the beginning of this book had me struggling. If it was the often annoying fmc without a shred of self confidence or how long it took for them to graze a finger, I’m not sure but omg Lucas Martín almost made up for it by the end! He was the most charming and flirty mmc ever and the narrator’s voice for him was absolutely dreamy! His praise and acts of service >>>> really unmatched. he was swoon worthy for sure, especially with all the Spanish he threw around. unfortunately, other than that, I don’t believe there’s much more that would keep me revisiting this book, even if I think this would make a perfect rom com adaptation.
one of the last quotes of the book, for me, perfectly describes their relationship and their dynamic, "maybe his obsession shouldn't please me as much as it does, but part of why we work, so well is that we're both fucked in the head; equally tangled up in one another. " they are truly a couple that has suffered through so much trauma throughout the whole book and for me, I fear, it did not amount to a good reading experience. Not to say that I don't enjoy fucked up characters in a book together, I truly do, but there is basically no resolution to their conflicts or trauma throughout the whole book. their backstories were unnecessarily traumatic and their current lives not flushed out enough. all of that without mentioning how it was so heavily marketed as a rockstar romance for him to get on stage or barely talk about music and his art like once throughout the whole thing just to say that he was retiring and living with the love of his life. their obsession with each other and the great jealousy/smut scenes pushed me through the book and it will most likely carry me through the rest of the series. overall, I believe it was a disappointment considering how much I liked the first book, hopefully the third will pick it back up.
this story made me tear up more than a couple of times! I love getting to revisit this world every time a new special edition comes out and with this emotional backstory of Lila and her having to navigate it all being hearing impaired, this story was (surprisingly for an alien romance) a simmering slow burn. I am always fascinated by ruby dixon's ability to move the plot along with each book always having new discoveries about the planet and their new lives. I was not the biggest fan of Lila's sister Maddie in this book so it will be an interesting test of her character's likability to see if I end up liking her when her book comes out in May. As always, you can always trust a sakhui male to be utterly obsessed with their mate and Rokan does not disappoint HE FUCKING ASKS HER TO TEACH HIM ASL AND IS EXTREMELY INTENTIONAL ABOUT INCLUDING HER IN ALL CONVERSATIONS SWOON.
