Melndzelmji by Dace Meiere, Ignė Zarambaitė

i waited two months to finally write a review on this but like. the book was a little bit boring and i feel like bc i read it in latvian it felt really cringey, like the way the characters talked w eachother???? what teenager talks like that????? also the ending was really confusing. when i started the book i thought it was some kind of murder mistery and the whole book was just the main character trying to figure out what happened at the abondened house and when we find out its so confusing and half assed. 2.5 stars idk

i read other reviews and i feel like some people completely misunderstood this book.
its written through the male gaze and the way miles thinks about and sees alaska is supposed to be disgusting, because in the end he realizes he only remembers her body and her attractiveness, not her as a person. he could only see her body, not her soul.
really beautiful and poetic book, i loved alaska so much.
it writes grief perfectly and i really liked the ending.
made me stare at a wall for 30 minutes.
“how will i ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering?”

As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

I AM SO SHOCKED.
i have no words.
holy shit this was so good.
at one point this book scared me so bad i couldnt sleep the entire night but its okay because it was an amazing read.
i was on my toes the entire time and all i wanted to do is just flip the next page.
spoilers
ive seen alot of people in the reviews and also friends of mine getting mad at pip for not just calling the police and reporting it as self defense but i feel like they’ve just missed the whole point of this trilogy, which was to show how flawed the police system is and they would’ve never believed pip. she didn’t have a choice.
the only thing that i wish was done differently in this book was the ending, i mean holly you just put us through 500 pages of emotional damage couldn’t you just put atleast 5 pages of an ending, where pip is back with her family and friends and most importantly ravi, not ignoring them anymore and not pushing herself away? i just really wish we couldve seen how pips mind thought after the whole thing, after she’s supposedly “saved herself” and maxs in jail and she can be free? like, would she ever actually be free from all those traumatic memories? she was promising to herself the entire book that shes gonna get the happy ending, and when she finally does, you put it up to interpretation? im not mad and i loved the book but i guess i wouldve done it differently. maybe the show adaptation could save the ending? idk i’ll hope we even get an adaptation of all the books

kad saku lasit gramatu es nedomaju ka man ta tik loti patiks. bet manuprat visi gramatas varoni bija tik isti un reali, tiesam vareja just ka gramatu ir sarakstijis jaunietis. man likas sarunas starp draugiem loti realistiskas, visi zargoni sarakstees utt.
gramata loti lika aizdomaties kadi ir cilveki un kadi mums liekas ka vini ir. svena un karla situationships bija too relatable, tada sajuta ka reali iznemta situacija ara no manas dzives un ielikta gramata.

im so surprised of how good this book was?! Holly Jackson truly never fucking misses. even when writing novellas. it was so funny and such a quick read! i loved all the little parallels to the other books, and the little mystery game was very fun to read :D (also super sad to see how mentally stable pip was before all this, contrasting to as good as dead ending)

very fast paced and fun to read !! glad kuina and ann got introduced, theyre so hot
Alice in Borderland #3 by Haro Aso

kinda disappointing compared to the first 2 volumes - the pacing was very slow, i mean, the entire book was just one game, and it didnt even get resolved at the end?? and the random short story in the middle was very random and not needed.

I FULLY UNDERSTAND THE HYPE NOW!!!!
it was a bit cliche and predictable at times, but i loved the world and character building.
the first time i actually enjoyed a straight ship and the smut scenes without finding them extremely cringe. i cannot wait to read iron flame, hoping its just as good.
(also, the last 70 pages!?!? what a plot twist. jaw was on the floor.)
