As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

5.0

I AM SO SHOCKED.
i have no words.
holy shit this was so good.
at one point this book scared me so bad i couldnt sleep the entire night but its okay because it was an amazing read.
i was on my toes the entire time and all i wanted to do is just flip the next page.

spoilers

ive seen alot of people in the reviews and also friends of mine getting mad at pip for not just calling the police and reporting it as self defense but i feel like they’ve just missed the whole point of this trilogy, which was to show how flawed the police system is and they would’ve never believed pip. she didn’t have a choice.
the only thing that i wish was done differently in this book was the ending, i mean holly you just put us through 500 pages of emotional damage couldn’t you just put atleast 5 pages of an ending, where pip is back with her family and friends and most importantly ravi, not ignoring them anymore and not pushing herself away? i just really wish we couldve seen how pips mind thought after the whole thing, after she’s supposedly “saved herself” and maxs in jail and she can be free? like, would she ever actually be free from all those traumatic memories? she was promising to herself the entire book that shes gonna get the happy ending, and when she finally does, you put it up to interpretation? im not mad and i loved the book but i guess i wouldve done it differently. maybe the show adaptation could save the ending? idk i’ll hope we even get an adaptation of all the books
