Don't fall down the well of absolute nationalism, for that thinking is faulty and can lead to harm

A twisted Beauty & The Beast tale. Tame in both romance and adventure, there is good banter and a fantastical house character. Fun overall story.

This makes me feel like I've only just begun to dip my toes into the writing of Giovanni. This is my first time reading any of her works and shame on me for not getting here sooner.

This book is told from Claudia's perspective. It's about a Phanton Caller that robs houses in a thieving spree. A story around the stresses caused by the thief and  baby-sitting business and boy crazed girls and girl-crazed boys wanting to go to the Halloween Dance, it's a delightful short book filled with nostalgia.

The often cruel beginings of man thinking he is above all other creatures while inflicting pain and suffering in the quest to discover more about science. Research and philosophy intertwined in this book in relation to discovering that cephalopods are beings with thoughts and plans and "emotional" reactions. Fight and flight.
This book does a good job at not going too too deeply into the minutiae of either science or philosophy but walks the line of both to keep things flowing and interesting.
Culture Warlords: My Journey Into the Dark Web of White Supremacy by Talia Lavin

4.5

A personal and journalistic view into the depths of depravity and racism within the white supremacy culture. Talia Lavin dives deep into their world thru the internet and in person. It's a tough story for her to tell, as much of the vitriol is aimed at her and people like her. She crosses some lines that I would not have been able to cross as far as being exposed so intimately to the rotten people that drive white supremacy into the dark corners of the web. Her story is a much needed viewpoint while also being able to receive critique from the comfort of my own privledge.  This book leaves a lot to think about in terms of subversion of people that think they are marginalized verses the actual people being harassed and marginalized. This work blends personal and professional viewpoints well.
