WOW WOW WOW!

Sayaka Murata said fuck societal norms and I said fuck yes give me that book right now!

I enjoyed most of the stories in this collection. The beginning was super strong and I found myself constantly wanting to be consuming these stories. I definitely preferred the longer stories as my interested waned in the middle of the collection where the shorter ones lurked. Despite that, I quite liked 'Lover on the Breeze' and 'A Summer's Night Kiss' despite only being a few pages each.

My favourites were 'A First-Rate Material', 'A Magnificent Spread', 'Life Ceremony' and 'A Clean Marriage'.

they won't love you, so you will have to make them fear you

kirsty logan writes as dark, visceral and alluring as ever. lyrically dark, now she is witch is the dark cottagecore witchy book of your wildest imagination.

---

one of my favourite things about logan's writing is how she weaves descriptions of the body and nature together as one; it has inspired me to exercise the same with my own creative writing. now she is witch is a slow book and rightfully so. despite liking faster paced books, i appreciate its slowness and it works well with the story being told.

this is may first time reading kang’s work. their prose is lyrical and oftentimes speaks to the human experience. however, I found myself lost by the structure but i’m sure whether it is me or the fact that I read an early copy.

thank you to the publisher for sending me an advanced reader copy.
