The title and the cover make this book look way worse than it is. Really cute and sweet, just with a lot of smut.

I find this book very hard to rate. Having seen quite some interviews and having read some articles I really don't know what to believe anymore. There are a lot of dicrepansies between her stories and also between her and her mom's story, but who am I to decide how factual this is? Even if this story isn't completely true, I think Yeonmi her life wasn't easy in North Korea and the book still gives a lot of insight on the life of the North Korean refugees.

Tbh I just read this to finish my popsugar challenge before the end of the year. It was fine. Very simple and basic descriptions, but unmemorable.

I’m really happy I listened to the audiobook for this instead of reading the actual book after seeing all my friends giving it bad ratings for the weird writing. Even in the audiobook I sometimes wouldn’t know who was speaking, if something was being said or thought, if they were at another moment or place all of a sudden. So I can already imagine how the reading would have been :’). After loving The Hating Game so much it’s a bit sad that the writing in this is such garbage, but I still really enjoyed the story itself. The main character is a bit of an idiot, but Tom (the love interest) was great. The ‘shit is hitting the fan’ moment that always happens in romance books wasn’t my thing but the ending redeemed it for me. Unlike The Hating Game I will probably forget about this book soon and wont be reading it again, but I’m still happy I decided to read it after the bad reviews.

This series really chooses the perfect settings! I loved the first book taking places in Edinburgh and this one set in Paris was great as well. I love the level of creepiness in these books. As a big adultbaby I'm happy I can finally enjoy some spooky books without getting nightmares :'). The plot could be a little bigger and I would have liked to see a little more character growth, but definitely a fun series to listen to!
