Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

“You don’t know what goes on in anyone’s life but your own. And when you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can’t be that precise and selective. When you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re messing with their entire life. Everything. . . affects everything.”
I feel like such a black sheep again since everyone loves this book and many goodreads friends gave it 5 stars. I think it does have a good message. Everything you say affects something and how small things can mean so much more to someone who is already in an awful situation. So why did I give it 3 stars? Because almost every reason on Hannah's list didn't really do for me. Most of the reasons were things most teenagers go through and I know I can't judge what is a good reason for someone to take their own life, but it just didn't feel real to me. Teenagers are nasty and I think she could have done so much more with this.
Besides that the whole book is talking about the 'snowball effect' and the effect people their words and actions can have on someone even though it seems innocent. But what about Hannah her words and actions? Does it not matter how the things on the tape effect the people that receive it? Some actions of these people on this list weren't nice, but they don't all deserve the possible effects this can have on them. It's awfull when someone feels like there is no way out and want to take their own life because of it, but I don't think that means that they are allowed to do or say everything because they are going to commit suicide. For me that kind of ruins the message in this book.
So, yea. I thought this story had lots of potential and that's why I kept it on my tbr, even though it has been 4 years since I found out about it and I wasn't really sure if I was ever gonna read it. Sadly it let me down a little bit.

Also, the reason why Clay was in the 'list', but not really on the list was kind of lame to me. ''Hey, I'm giving you a list, but you'll only find out after 3 hours of listening you didn't do anything wrong.'' It just didn't make sense for me to put him in the list. To tell him her story? Yes, but not like this. So, yea. The Shadowhunter's Codex by Cassandra Clare

Overall feeling: Boring. I did read some interesting things about the Shadowhunters world, but it just couldn't grip me for more then 10 pages at a time. It just seems like unnecessary knowledge to me even though I'm a pretty big fan of the main series.

Even though a lot of things happened I also feel like nothing happpened at all... I liked it enough, but it wasn't anything special and I'm happy that the next book in the last in the series. Erotica just might not be my thing.
Looking for Alaska by John Green
2.0
For me this one was just a big meh. I guess John Green his writing style just isn't for me. I read The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns before and this just feels like the same cookie cutter characters.
John Green has a nice way with words, but it also feels kinda try-hard? He gives almost every character he writes this same way with words and it's just too much. There is always the smart, witty one, in love with books/lps, a bit of a dorky one, the funny friend and they all talk like they are fancy poets. These words don't fit the characters in the story for me. Also the instalove or the obsessing over a girl. I've read it before in Paper Towns/TFIOS, I don't need to read the same again.
I also felt like this story wasn't really going somewhere. Yes something big happened, but I was so obvious that it didn't grip me at all. The only grip it had on me was 'ugh no you did NOT just do that' and not in the sad sense of it. And after the big thing it was just a big nothing all over again, at least for me. Also big spoiler:
I was already done with John Green, but gave it one last try since this is the favourite of so many people. I'm sad it didn't grip me the way I hoped it would, but that's fine. I guess his books just aren't for me. I'll like his quotes a whole lot better without knowing the story behind them.

Miles kept whining about how Alaska could never do good on her promise again with 'doing stuff again later'. (Like kissing etc.) Hello, she is dead and this is what you think about? If you love her so much like you keep saying all the book long, shouldn't you be sad that there is other stuff you could never do with her anymore? Also, you have a girlfriend. Don't think about that for a second though, let's only focus on the 'mistake' Alaska made.I was already done with John Green, but gave it one last try since this is the favourite of so many people. Sadly this wasn't much better than the first. Harden is still a douchebag, Tessa still doesn't have a spine or some selfrespect. For some weird reason it's so addicting to listen to the audiobooks while getting angry over the story. I never got hate reading, but now I do so this book at least gave me that :')

3.5 I think. This books are kind of my guilty pleasure. Very fun and easy to read. I liked how the stories were nicely wrapped up at the end, but I will probably forget about this bookseries in a month.

I can see why so many people like this book, but for some reason it just couldn't really grip me. It might be the pov of the kid or the fact that I listened to it on audiobook. I wish I liked it more..

I'm so confused! What the hell just happened at the end? Also a bit too much ringer for my taste. I like that she's badass but because of all her overthinking the parts were a little slow.

Enjoyable, but this book wasn't really for me. I don't feel bad for Levana at all. Yes, her parents sucked and yes, her sister was a bitch but if that was meant to make you understand why she is evil it doesn't do the trick for me. All this book did is making me think she is absolutely mental. I'm suprised that no one falls over the thing she does to Evret Hayle. If she was a man and Evret was the woman in this story a lot of people would probably go crazy over it. Most reasons given behind Levana her actions were shit. I can enjoy this for reading about Levana, the mental bitch, but it definitely didn't make me feel for her.
