Cash Flow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial Freedom by Robert T. Kiyosaki
2.0
The idea of the book is simple: how to get to the other side of the fence, where the grass is greener. The advice are not outdated even today, which makes it sound. However there's not much new for those who have read Rich dad, poor dad. Funny enough that Kiyosaki himself thinks less of people who need to read one more book before acting, at least when he lists stereotypes of investors.
I do think this is one of those books that dismiss the relativity of being rich. Just like Tim Ferris keeps saying that a four hour work week is possible, he doesn't stress the fact that it's possible because other people are working full time for him, instead of him doing the work. That's the true secret of getting rich, and everything else is pop culture to sell books. I did get the same feeling about this book: the author repeatedly states that he has made the most money when ordinary workers have had it tough. If absolutely everybody would follow this advice, it wouldn't work, because for one person to get rich almost always means that there are a lot of people who do not even try.
I'm not against of getting rich but I like to read honest statements about the prerequisites.

I couldn't give 3,5 stars so I gave four. This novel is a fine fanfic: well written to stand on its own if the reader doesn't know Austen's work. Definitely and clearly not an Austen novel. I haven't (at least for now) read anything else from P. D. James so I can't comment on whether her approach is typical for her or not, but I think if there wouldn't have been the murder, the story would've been probably better. Because now for real, who didn't imagine that Elizabeth and Darcy lived happily ever after?

Stephen Fry's Incomplete and Utter History of Classical Music by Stephen Fry

It took me almost three months to get through the book. I like Fry and I think this book earns its place in the library's music section. However, I would've given four stars if the book hadn't been sooooo demanding to read. One can be oh so funny for 300 pages, but one's reader won't stay amused reading the same joke with different words over and over again. Even when everything is funny, it's not genuinely entertaining half the time. I got through the book a dozen pages or so at a time, and I'm glad I did. I just think that a bit more darling-killing would've been in place.

Good listening for the commute. I really liked the ending, a bit different for a chick lit novel, but not too deep.

Another good nonsense novel for listening during my commute. Absurd is exactly the word, and with a little bit of polishing this would've been quite amusing in a good book way. For the most part it was the author's dramatic reading that gets the stars. Absolutely gut gemacht.

I didn't know what to expect. I was not disappointed, it was like attending a lecture about some believable research regarding the use of smart phones in finding a mate, and being constantly interrupted by a stand-up comedian. The book has it's moments, specifically when the content wanders off to choosing the best jam. All in all, quite a package, intensive, a good read.

I had a hard time to get into the flow of the book but apparently there's the whole point of appreciating the vernacular. The story was ok, but I wouldn't necessarily categorize this as a crime novel.

As a novel this was good, as an autobiography I didn't see the point of it. Then again I hadn't heard of the author or of her family. I liked the reading and the story was captivating.
