The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
5.0
I loved the little sprinkles of information we got throughout this book and I can’t wait to read the next one. I’m actually a little annoyed with myself for taking so long to read these. And the spa with Circe and the Guinea Pigs 10/10.
Movie comparison because I’ve watched them a lot when I was younger but didn’t really read these books. I will say that I think I prefer how we met Tyson in the movie versus the book purely because Percy’s reaction in the book feels like it would be more believable than with how it is in the book aka him all of a sudden turning on his only friend at his school that he’s shown standing up for prior. And a certain other scene with Tyson just didn’t hit as hard as it did in the movie because of that.
Movie comparison because I’ve watched them a lot when I was younger but didn’t really read these books.
That being said everything else that was left out should have been in the movie. Although, I do like that they moved the one scene with Tyson to almost the end of the movie instead of having it in the middle like it is in the book.
The Winchester Mystery House: Collected Edition by Joshua Werner
4.0
I’ve been obsessing over the Winchester Mystery House for at least six months now so when I saw this in my local library I just had to give it a try. It’s not the best thing I’ve read but the art was amazing and I honestly just want more things about the house. I do wish this was continued though as it does end pretty abruptly.
Yagi the Bookshop Goat by Fumi Furukawa
3.5
For the most part this was a cute story but I will admit I didn’t necessarily care to find out that Ookami was the bookseller Yagi met when he was a kid. . I would recommend this to others though.

The world and its “extinct” monsters are an amazing idea and I love the meaning behind this book. But, if this had been novel sized instead of novella sized I think it would have worked better for me. I was just left wanting more and feeling like I had been dropped into the story after a few chapters had already happened.
Cryptid Club by Sarah Andersen
3.0
I went in hoping I’d like it as much as I liked Fangs (which was a four star for me) or more but sadly that didn’t happen. I love their art but I don’t think I’ll ever re-read this or really think about it again. And this is completely nitpicking but I wish the creator of Slender Man was credited at the beginning of the book along side the creator of Siren Head. Their credited at the back of the book in the little descriptions of each cryptid but it just felt a little weird that it wasn’t in the beginning especially with illustrations of both Siren Head and Slender Man on the page.
