Kisses for Lula by Samantha Mackintosh

3.5 stars.
Almost didn't continue reading it -- the very beginning had me wondering what kind of book this was....seemed more childish than what I was expecting, and the dialogue left me very confused. So glad I persevered b/c it really got much better. Learning that it was based in Britain helped with the colloquealisms (I know I spelled that wrong, too lazy to look it up). In the end I enjoyed the book, but something still didn't suck me in enough to continue on with the Lula books. *shrugs*

TOTALLY SURPRISED. I was in the mood for some fluff to take time off from heavy series I've been reading so decided to start this one. It was WAY deeper than I was expecting. I was totally sucked in. I didn't even have much in common with the girls, being not even remotely a fashion or sex-in-the-city fanatic, but it didn't matter. Enjoyed the characters so much. Was rooting for Ginny to find herself. Great surprise.

Ridiculously biting humour....was almost hard to read from the evil person perspectives... Hyperbolic, but at times was almost not as exaggerative as it should have been...black humour? I enjoyed it. :)

I almost didn't like it...had to keep reminding myself that they are teenagers, and yes, unfortunately, teenagers do act like that in real life sometimes. The ending was wonderful though -- perfect redemption (not quite the word I was looking for) for Lola, made me proud of her....

OK, I don't know how everyone else feels, but I really really enjoyed the last book. I'm still not in love with Julia, something about her character just rubs me the wrong way. But wow, the twists and turns...I couldn't have seen any of it coming. Some got a little crazy, but I loved the "epilogue"-y part...if you read you'll know what I mean. Oh Phil, so glad you remembered too.... All in all it wasn't my favourite, but I'm so glad it didn't stop me from reading Everblue, b/c that book rocked and just reading the teaser exerpt at the end of this book again made me wish desperately for Evergreen....

Much better than the first book... I'm still not all over the Nicholas/Julia thing, but at least there was more chemistry in this one. And there was a lot of plot I didn't even remotely see coming. I think the addition and expansion of some awesome secondary characters really makes this book. Honestly, I'm not sure what I'm rooting for as I finish this book and finally go to the conclusion. Nicholas was seriously harsh, and so it's gonna be interesting to see where this all leads.... I still don't find Julia to be that redeemable of a character, but I'll give her another chance...

Copies heavily from Twilight saga, but still entertaining.
UPDATE: reread it, and totally disagree with my original review. I think it was just the first vampire novel I read besides Twilight, and honestly this one was quite different. If it was like anything, I would say it follows Buffy and Angel. I stick with my 3 stars b/c I couldn't quite get into the chemistry between Julia and Nicholas...I just didn't feel their connection, and so her enthrallment with him didn't make sense for me. But there was a lot of goodness in the story, and I've already read the next one and remember liking it a lot more...can't wait to reread it, and then the conclusion.

3.5 stars. Honestly, I'm not sure what to think. I was about 80% through the book (according to my kindle), and I started feeling like there were no redeemable characters and it was too real, not fictiony enough and I started crying for no reason. But it did end well, and there was redemption. I just wish there was more earlier in the book, b/c I like having someone to sympathize with, and I couldn't always sympathize with Maddie. So yeah, I liked it, but perhaps it needs time to fester before I can make up my mind on how much.

Adorable and quirky. For a novella, I'm not too picky and this one held my interest and had me rooting for the characters....good enough for me! :)

Was a really different concept for a shorter story...and some unconventional characters too. I really enjoyed it. Don't really know why. It was very descriptive and I'm usually not a fan of that (like describing mundane details, but for some reason they didn't seem mundane in this one). Yeah, helpful huh?
