Keeping Promise Rock by Amy Lane
3.0
3.5 stars -- I really enjoy Ms Lane's M/M romances, though I guess technically this is only my second...weird. Anyways, I found it a little harder to "get" Crick and Deacon. They are very unique characters, but I couldn't always follow what they were thinking, their motivations, etc. It was heartbreaking, and fraught with obstacles...everything you expect. And the cast of secondary characters were fantastic. I'll still check out the next ones, but this one didn't capture me as well as The Locker Room did.

Probably leaning towards 4.5 stars -- I loved the journey on this one. I was less than half way through and had so many questions, and was so uncomfortable with Archer, and was wondering how everyone could rate the book so high with a character that was so screwed up you know?? Not that he gets less screwed up, but Ms York manages to thrust him into your heart regardless of your reservations. I spent most of the book feeling anxious...and my husband kept asking me what was wrong. I honestly can't even describe to you what I loved about this book...but it got under my skin. So much wrong about the characters, but you want them to have that elusive happiness. <3 Evan. Appropriately hated Vivian. And just wanted to wrap Archer up in a hug. Good stuff Ms York.

Fabulously entertaining. I will admit, I had quite a few moments where there was disbelief in the logistics of what was going on, but then I remembered that it doesn't have to be 100% realistic to be super enjoyable. My only problem was the ending with Kevin...but the teaser of possibly more gives me hope. He has a lot of apologizing to do. :)

OK, I totally didn't believe them when other reviewers said this was the only love triangle that won't make me want to scratch my eyes out (my own words)...but I must say, it feels actually *real*, not just a plot device. The whole book was real like that...flawed characters that had moments of fabulousness, and moments of I want to pull your hair, what are you doing?? (all 3 main characters) And Brenna's relationship with her mother is interesting too -- she has a good relationship, but like all teenagers (or most anyways), it's not as easy as all that. And you see her making these decisions and you shake your head thinking "what are you thinking???" Can't wait to read more. Really enjoying everything about it....but apparently my brain is too tired to write something intelligent....
I will say, some of my fave authors love this book...after the first read it and raved, I looked and thought and hmmed and hawed... I'm a total cheapskate, and $5 is my kindle limit unless I already know for sure, and so $3.99 was on the higher side....I know, it's terrible, whatever. But by the time 4 of my authors had rated it, I just couldn't resist any longer. And I'm so glad I gave in....

Thoroughly enjoyable! Sebastian was adorable...it was kind of fun to read from the guy's POV and have it actually be believably a guy's...kwim? So much fun to watch him change and grow. He and Aspen are perfect for each other... And not just those two, but the 4 best friends were great to watch....

Wow, soo sooooo good! Totally didn't see the wee little twist at the very very end coming...a nice surprise! It took me a while to get into the book...there were a lot of different characters and at times it was hard to get them all straight...in the end, it all tied up perfectly, and once you got into the meat of the story it was easier to remember everything. A lot more gorey than what I usually read, but great characters, intriguing, if horrific, premise and fabulous action. :)

Nick and Lauren had wonderful chemistry....and actually some great humour throughout the book which is always a pleasant surprise!

2.5 stars. There were times reading this that I saw so much potential...but it just left me cranky in the end. Sometimes it felt like the author was just trying to fill in space, and the narrative was just going in circles and circles... So much time spent analyzing. When the plot moved forward with actual action, it was enjoyable... But when they were hanging out in the room ruminating over why they feel the way they do...well it just lost me. And I'm not actually someone that requires a lot of action...it just seemed like going over and over old ground. So yeah, this book was not for me. Ah well...

I don't know if it was supposed to, but this book thoroughly amused me. Not that it didn't have heart -- it did. And dealt with some interesting issues with exploring sexuality. But were seals?? And that wasn`t really the funny part.... I think the unicorn topped it off for me. Saying all that, I thoroughly enjoyed it....though it might not be everyone`s tastes.

Definitely intriguing... A sad view of the future.... Having a hard time rating it...leaning down towards 3.5. I did enjoy it, but it wasn't rereadable for me. Perhaps too depressing, even with the bit of hope at the end? Totally called the end of the book reveal....
