Lady Audley's Secret by Robert Giddings, Mary Elizabeth Braddon

3.5 Stars really! A sensational read, difficult to process at times. The twists and turns throughout the latter half of the book are what kept me inrigued and entertained. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Because of You by Dawn French
4.0
A book full of heart, gut and soul. The ending in particular was really poignant if cheesy, but it made me weep on my way home.
I listened to the Audio Book version and the way that Dawn tells the story, and the way it’s conveyed is wonderful.
A story of identity and womanhood. Although I honestly CANNOT STAND JULIUS. He made me want to gouge my own eye balls out!

Memoirs of a Geisha: The Literary Sensation and Runaway Bestseller by Arthur Golden
4.0
This truly was a fantastic book, offering an insight to the life of Geisha in the gion. However I do realise that some of the story must be taken with a a pinch of salt.
All in all I felt like it was a beautiful love story, or even a coming of age story of a wonderfully resilient and determined woman. This is what powered the story and kept me engaged. It makes me want to find out even more about the fascinating Japanese culture.

Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes

3.5 to this one. Three completely different woman with the usual daily struggles of love and loss, new jobs, cheating, relationship. If you keep in mind that this is a classic chick flick, an easy reader and with perfectly likeable characters then it’s perfect.
I just felt at points the story went on and on, but as it got toward the end it go better and better and I could put it down.
Perfectly amicable bit of chick lit, perfect for a holiday read.

The Foundling by Stacey Halls
5.0
Stacey Halls really hits it out the park with this again. The humanity that is shown throughout the main characters is wonderful, the way each scene is set and the way Stacey taps into different topics (mental health, status etc) is wonderfully done. The whole read is thought provoking and I would highly reccomend the Audiobook, the voice actresses were incredible throughout.
Mythos by Stephen Fry
5.0
I’ve always had a slight fascination with Greek mythology and history.
This is an epic compilation of stories and myths, excellently retold by Stephen Fry himself (I listened to the audio book). And it filled me with wonder and a thirst to find out more.
It’s mesmerising how the Greeks used myths and stories to make sense of themselves and the world around them. Also, I adored how the myths portray gender fluidity and homosexuality throughout, which really made me think differently about the ancient Greeks.
A massive yes from me, and I cannot wait to read the other two!
