This truly was a fantastic book, offering an insight to the life of Geisha in the gion. However I do realise that some of the story must be taken with a a pinch of salt.

All in all I felt like it was a beautiful love story, or even a coming of age story of a wonderfully resilient and determined woman. This is what powered the story and kept me engaged. It makes me want to find out even more about the fascinating Japanese culture.
