So many problems — MISCOMMUNICATION should be banned from all romance novels. Period. The end.

I am very disappointed — more so by the fact that this was one of my favourite movies of all-time, and the book just fell totally flat for me. The heartbreaking love story, the mysterious English patient; I can’t believe I’m saying it but the cinematic performance was so much better — film adaptations usually don’t do books justice but in this case, the movie actually wins. Ahhhhh. Maybe literary fiction isn’t my jam?

So. Freaking. Good. The angst. The sexual tension. I loved Veronica so very much.

The marketing for this book was all wrong — it was 100% a fantasy and 15% a romance. Think Good Omens but with some romance sprinkled in. A trans character definitely saved the day in this rather boring apocalypse-filled romcom. A prince of Hell should really be more interesting than this watered-down version.. so sad.

Cute romcom but I could have lived without the third act miscommunication trope — why oh why does this break-up / conflict thing always have to complete a HEA? Why???

You can’t throw in some Shakespeare quotes and call this a retelling — bitch, you forgot to write the undying love of Romeo & Juliet; you just wrote the dying part. As in, I’m dying from reading this book.
