Extremely powerful and timely. Even as someone that has be a part of the BDS movement for much longer than just the last year of tragedy in Gaza, I still really related to Coates’ shockingly recent awakening to the truth of the Palestinian plight and the media complicity in that being delayed for so many of us.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 48%.
As much as I usually love bell hooks’s insight, this one feels weirdly shallow. I stopped reading when I got to the line about how nothing is more attractive than health, that it’s the most vital sign of beauty. Like, I knew she wasn’t writing for disability justice but that’s WILD

If I hadn’t already read Les Payne’s amazing bio of Malcom X I’d probably finish this but tbh…I just don’t really care for memoirs
