While this had some great, important parts it also had a lot that felt like it was written just from random notes Lewis had left :(

I read her other book on Nashville history and found it…not great. Was shocked by how much I loved this one, learned lots about my city!

Very affirming book but at times it’s academic language can be alienating

Black Disability Politics by Sami Schalk

I’m not going to rate this book. It was so invaluable, I learned so much. But it also was written in a very academic way that was honestly pretty alienating. It’s ironic because the book does specifically mention disability studies books being written in an inaccessible but it’s like the author couldn’t reflect on different ways that could manifest.
