Anger Management Issues by Becca Vale

I knew this one was gonna be good. I love the books by Becca that get straight into it, no him-hawing back and forth, and especially the power exchanges and dominance!
โฆI think I have a book type ๐ค. Who am I kidding I knew that!

Really liked the first half of this book. Liked how their friendship developed and the story progressed.
The second half severely dragged for me. I ended up skimming a lot of this half out of frustration and boredom. Which is unfortunate.

This starts off right at the good stuffโฆthe soon to be ex-wife is gone and Nate and his dad can be together the way they want.
Naturally this is pretty high heat and low angst. I meanโฆitโs Odessa.

Well. This is what happens when you tell your friend you need something darker to read bc the ARC you guys read was a cheap imitation.
Was this intriguing? Yes. Did it hold my attention? It did. Did I like the book? Not particularly. It was well written and unfortunately very visual. And Iโm a visual reader.
I will never again complain that a book wasnโt dark enough. Because Amber will just say โremember it could be worseโ and then I will remember Chris and Ivan.

I slept on writing this review hoping to gather my thoughts. No dice. Iโm sitting here trying to piece together what I want to say and still coming up short.
This is probably my least favorite of the series so far. I never thought I would say this at the beginning but Iโm so tired of everything being about Carter. Heโs not the only survivor. I KNOW this runs concurrently, I KNOW Iโm reading about his brother whoโs main focus was his brother and the reason he got kidnapped, but he flat out told Nolan he would go wherever Carter went and asked if he would come with him. Honestly that broke my heart. It didnโt for the character but it did for mine. Why is everyone coming second place to Carter, especially now that Maison is in a relationship?
Nolan is my favorite in this book. He puts everyone before himself. I wanted to shake Maison when Nolan told him what he NEEDED and how he reacted. Maison yet again thinking he knows whatโs best for everyone instead of letting them decide for themselves.
Maison is a complicated person. Iโm looking forward to seeing how things progress in the next book.
Honestly, throuples are NOT my jam but Iโm begging Hunter to come into the picture at the point and save these two.
