(m/m, action and romance). I had a rough night and was distracted from large chunks of the beginning of this one, impacting my experience. The politics of this was mostly lost on me, and the 1st person POV was unexpected. As usual, KJ Charles’ sex scenes excel, and I really liked the ending for the romantic leads.
(f/f, YA, romance). I’m not a sports person, but this book is so cute! The acknowledgment of emotional complexity and not fixing things with big romantic gestures was A+. The amazing, supportive families were even better. Books set in GA (my home state) can be distracting-every time weather, universities, or place are discussed my ears perk up, and rural GA with zero homophobia is odd. I wish the villain wasn’t the only character to be read with a southern accent- so many amazing people have them!
(essays, not queer). I love the podcast and I loved the book. This book made me cry a number of times. I gave it to my dad for Father’s Day and thought of him often as I read it. 5 stars.
(race and feminism, nonfiction). I’ve been wanting to get to this for a long time and I’m glad I did. Good reading and also, very well narrated by Adenrele Ojo.
(f/f, historical, coming of age). This book was so good! I really appreciated the notes at the end, especially having just read The Deviant’s War. There’s a love story, but it doesn’t really seem like the point.
(m/m, contemporary, romance). This book is so adorable! Made me want to get my magic cards back out. These DORKS though….. I thought it would be too cheesy at first but it’s just the perfect level of complex.
(graphic memoir, asexual). I love this drawing style! The depicted experience of asexuality is pretty different than mine, though there is a little overlap, and I really appreciate getting to read about different ace experiences.
(m/m, fiction). This book was simultaneously very calming and very anxiety producing. I liked the prose and the rhythms of the dialog. The characters felt like real people.
