Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers

(f/f, contemporary). Honestly, I was distracted a lot during this one. But! The parts of this I got were nice. I liked following the mc finding her way. I’m mentally putting this one on the re-listen list.
You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson

(f/f, YA, romance, contemporary). This book is TOO CUTE. The drama, fake social media, strong friendships, the queer band obsession. I loved all of this. The romance was sweet, real, and didn’t feel like the whole point. Also the narrator, Alaska Jackson, is excellent and perfect for this book.
The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe

(f/f, YA, thriller). This book had me entranced all the way through. The author does an incredible job narrating, and the story, of a bank heist hostage situation interspersed with the mc’s history, is excellent. It solidified what I already knew, which is that I love found family stories so much, and I love “I adore my romantic partner but my friends mean just as much to me” even more. So good.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

(sci fi). A genderless person meets a robot in the wilderness. A very sweet, meditative book. I hope there will be sequels. Becky Chambers books always make me think in new ways.
Out of Character by Annabeth Albert

(m/m, romance, contemporary). A cute follow up to Conventionally Yours, though I missed Payton. Childhood friends to enemies to lovers. Only one of the mcs is a huge super nerd, but the other is so endearing it makes up for it.
In terms of audio, it sounds like a romance between a fourth, time-machined Sedgwick (from Cat Sebastian's Turner books, narrated by Joel Leslie Froomkin) and if Robbie’s brain slowed down to the pace of Ox’s (from TJ Klune's Green Creek books, narrated by Kirt Graves) in a lovely way.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

(m/m, contemporary, romance). Everyone in this felt very British. This book made me laugh aloud more than any book has in a long time. I did wish it was a bit steamier…..

Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie

(sci fi). The lack of gender awareness by the main character and the questions of humanity were interesting.
We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia

(f/f, dystopian). I finished this book and immediately regretted not putting the sequel on library hold earlier. The society and world building were interesting to me and the romance was intriguing.
Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales

(m/m, YA, contemporary). Even though I’m mad at Ollie’s friends from California for abandoning him, this book was sweet. Good character growth. I just need some high schoolers to recommend it to! I do wish the audiobook had clearer indications of when we were in a flashback, I felt like I was just picking up on it from context clues.
Featherbed by Annabeth Albert

(m/m, contemporary, romance). A chicken farmer and a bookshop owner. Harrison’s situation felt a little contrived. I wanted their moms to fall in love more than I wanted the main characters to!
