Daddy's Addiction by BJ Alpha
3.0
This was intense, totally taboo, and full of so many triggers / kinks I lost count.
Pro - Daddy Tommy is hot and crazy
Con - I think I'm permanently scarred... I'll never look at certain natural things in the same way again... IYKYK.
Pro - Their dynamic is magnetic, naughty and wild which was fun to read.
Con - There is no real plot or mafia vibe, just pure filthy smut,... but some people are cool with that so that could be a pro too.
Pro - easy / quick to read

Resisting the Fae King by Lila Price, Lila Price
5.0
At the mention of this being a beauty and beast retelling with Fae I was onboard, but this was so enchanting and swoon worthy!
With tropes including enemies to lovers, touch her and die, forced marriage, mate bonds, curses and forbidden romance this was set to be a winner.
I devoured it in a few hours and couldn't put it down. It's dark, gripping and addictive, with a strong stubborn FMC, and a possessive but considerate MMC.
The concept of a Volcanic Fae King (fire) and Selkie (water) adds to the forbidden element on top of a forced marriage, being held captive and being enemies, but with a curse to break, secrets, lies and conflicts, this is a masterpiece of slow burn enemy to lover romance, angst, suspense and mystery.
Ending on a major cliffhanger prepare for anxiety while you wait for book 2!
Highly recommend and looking forward to the next book!!

Robin's Flight by Breanne Leftwich

This was a great paced YA fantasy with drama, action and mystery.
It's a journey of self discovery, loyal friendships, overcoming hardship, discovering truths, and enduring loss. With paranormal elements and plot twists this was a gripping storyline with endearing character development, and included dire stakes, morally grey characters, villains, slow burn romance and elemental magic, helping reveal an underworld paranormal society and a secret war. Excited to read more of this series and see how it develops.

The Kingdom's Omen: Heir Of Sormoth, Book One by Selina Smith
4.0
This was an intriguing dark fantasy story, including slow burn romance, hints at fated mates, enemies to allies, sorcery and revenge.
It includes Fae, werewolves, shifters, vampires and more, and follows the story of magical and feared Sorceress Luween being escorted from her village by Knights to finding out she's a long lost princess and the next heir.
The fact Luween is also a unique and rare sorceress with powers from all 4 God's that she must keep secret and under control, and her subplot of getting revenge for her mother's death add complications to her new situation as heir to the King she's vowed to kill.
Add in the Queen's unusual behaviour and hostility towards her, a magical and cryptic book telling her to break a curse, and shifting feelings to those around her and Luween is facing challenges from all directions.
This a shorter read and book 1 of a planned trilogy. It's fun, fast paced and entertaining. Excited to read more of this series especially after the traumatic cliffhanger!

An epic high fantasy medieval adventure following Eamonn on his journey of self discovery.
With descriptive world building and character growth this is a stunning YA adventure with action, drama and magic.
This story has charming characters that are strong, resilient, loyal and brave, a mysterious world of sorcery and magic, and overcoming trials and challenges from an evil overlord.
Includes found family, heroes, villains, morally grey characters, friendship and love, this is an immersive world that all ages can enjoy.
Can't wait to read more of this series and see what's in store for Eamonn, Leyna and Hadli.

Iron Scars: A Novel of the Spartan Empire by Hamilton Baker
5.0
A historical/war based novel wouldn't usually be my first choice, but the cover and blurb intrigued me with the concept of blended history and fantasy.
The descriptive writing and world building is so immersive that you feel your right there in the moment watching events unfold before your eyes.
The dynamic action scenes are so well written that you can clearly picture everything as it happens, and get swept away in the violence of the battles, the heartaches from betrayals, and the conflicted emotions of the characters.
Told from the perspectives of Kaletor - a strategic and bloodthirsty Spartan warrior, and Jarka - an outcast turned leader and Yagar (Leopard) warrior, we get to see both characters grow, rise and fall through their trials and tribulations on opposing sides of a war.
Vaseus is also a key character with her strength bravery and stubborness helping to rally the rebels in the fight against the Empire.
This is an intense action packed novel that gives you the feeling of the graphic violence, intense action and unyielding power and battle tactics seen in the film '300', balanced against the adventure, camaraderie and loyalty you see in 'Avatar' with an unexpected leader uniting clans together for a common goal and quest for freedom.
This novel gives you the realism of historical warfare you'd expect from a Spartan Empire, against the fantasy element of Wildcat warriors and blends seamlessly into an entertaining masterpiece you won't want to put down.

Wings of Enchantment by Lara Bronson
4.0
This was a fun quick read featuring paranormal romance, enemies to lovers, grumpy v sunshine, slow burn with spice, and some fun sarcasm and banter.
It has a medieval vibe and felt like a Grimm or twisted fairytale with the trials and torment endured and the quirky Supernatural creatures.
It was enjoyable to see the characters growth and had a HEA so is a nice standalone fantasy read.

So firstly the cover drew me in as it's so beautiful, then I read the blurb and was fascinated by this story, where a modern woman ends up in medieval times but in a fictional novel playing out a plot she remembered reading whilst trying to make changes so she and others can survive. It's a fascinating concept and I couldn't wait to read it.
The female MC Emilia is witty, clever and kicks ass, and her closest supporters are loyal and caring, and all have interesting back stories too.
More interesting characters are introduced throughout the story and it will be interesting to see how it develops.
This is a lovely fantasy with adventure, mystery and potential romances building, and it switches between various POV allowing interesting insights on the main characters.
This was a fun read, but be warned at around 80% of the way through I realised there was no way it could all be wrapped up by the end with so much going on with new allies, plots and mysteries, and as predicted it ends rather abruptly on a cliffhanger!
Good news though as there's another book coming soon - I can't wait to read more about Emilia, Thessian, Laurence in the next book Queen of Ashes.
I hope we get more insight on how she ended up in this new world, what happened to her in the previous one, and learn more about the mages, prophecies, missing criminal and new allies.

The Burning Bandit : A Sprawling and Original Fantasy Adventure by Lauren Louise Hazel

Initially a story of 2 young boys who train together in the army and form a tentative friendship. One on the path to become a strong Warrior, and one who can master chi and become a powerful priest. Whilst they end up on differing paths fate draws them back together.
This story has the interesting concept of chi energy being used to control elements and we see this through earth, air, water and fire magic, as well as shapeshifting abilities.
Whilst I found the first third of the book a little slow and harder to follow and get into, it certainly picks up pace later and becomes an intriguing action packed adventure, with loyalties tested and secrets uncovered.
From strangers to friends to enemies to allies, it keeps you on your toes as the MC's battle for peace and freedom, and has a satisfying ending.

This book covers a lot of themes, it has the classic ruthless alpha dominance, shifter heirarchy, mate bonds, enemy to lover, submission and possessiveness, but also covers innocence, abuse and exploring sexuality and gender.
The FMC Jade had a very sheltered life being raised by her abusive father and therefore doesn't understand anything about sexuality, gender or her body, let alone the complications from being an omega, all she knows is wolves and alphas are dangerous.
Jade is stolen away and thrown into a devastatingly dark journey alongside 3 alpha's that she understands nothing about, and with her past trauma she can't even speak to express herself. She's frightened, confused, intimidated, but also strong willed and stubborn. While their initial encounters are unpleasant, unwanted and awkward, with a little help from an understanding Beta the group dynamic emerges into a caring family with Jade at the centre as she discovers her voice, loyalty, passion and love.
While some sections feature lots of triggers, and some content is cringey to read, overall this is an interesting plot with spice, angst and exploring sexuality.
