King of Death and Desire: A paranormal romance dark fairytale retelling by M.L. Devereaux
5.0
With inspiration from beauty and the beast this enchanting story pushes the classic fairytale into darker and more mysterious realms.
With cryptic and haunting supernatural entities surrounding Kat, she attempts to unravel the secrets of her prison and understand the curse that surrounds them all.
The threat and fear of the dangerous Bone King and Kat's building dark desires are intermingled in this paranormal romance, and has elements of slow burn, enemies to lovers, and spice. This story keeps you intrigued and captivated, and I look forward to reading more of this saga!

Following on from book 1 Glitch. Trey (Glitch's best friend) and single mum Erin (Glitch's sister) and their secret on/off relationship. This book has more drama, but still has time for spice and kink exploration. Hot and Hea! What's not to love

With beauty and the beast vibes this story pushes the fairytale into darker territory with creative twists, supernatural magic, dark desires and spice. With enemies to lovers slow burn romance, revenge, redemption, action and mystery, this story has a little of everything.
The story runs in 3 connected sections which split up the story and help show character development.
Just wish the ending had been a bit longer or added a few years later epilogue to tie it all off.
(As the title suggests if you have any icks for rats/mice it might not be for you)

Following the events of Frost, Ava and Torin are trapped in a new realm and have to fight to survive in their new lethal surroundings. With tensions still high between Torin and Ava she needs to figure out who she is and what she's capable of to help escape their new enemies and find a way home, and this accidental trip might be the answer she needed to save everyone before it's too late.
With Fae, royal court politics, action, mystery, drama, secrets, betrayals, building romance and magic, this Duology is intriguing and enchanting. The characters are flawed but you're along for the ride with their redemption.

Fae version of The Batchelor with dire stakes, humor, action and plot twists! Seelie King Torin needs a bride and there's a traditional Fae contest to help find the new Queen.
Ava - a heartbroken common Fae living in the human world bumps into the King and makes a bad impression in her post breakup messy state and lack of respect. Despite this Torin makes a deal with Ava offering money she desperately needs in exchange for an arranged marriage and competing in the contest for show. But what seemed like an easy score soon becomes a nightmare with lethal trials, contestants killed off, dark rumours, and the King has his own deadly secrets. Enjoyable slow burn romantasy with twists!

This is a truly an epic fantasy. The world building is great and the diversity of characters is well presented and shown with how they think, act and speak.
It's a great cross between a DND campaign and Lord of the Rings style, as it focusses on a group of differing individuals with varying skills and abilities forced to band together and work towards common goals, with all the action, adventure, mystery and character conflicts that come along with it.
It has morally grey characters so it isn't your typical good v evil plot, it's more interesting with them being reluctant heroes with differing beliefs and their own goals.
With lizard people, mages, assassin's, vampires, dwarves, rakken, cultists and more, this story certainly will keep you entertained.
The switch up in chapter POV helps you learn more about each of the 5 MC too, and the story has plenty of intrigue, subplots and mystery, and keeps you hooked from start to finish.
It does end on a cliffhanger, but book 2 comes out in November so looking forward to reading the next sequence of adventures!

This follows straight on from the events in book 1 The Tidings of Misfits. It launches straight into a battle and the misfits come together to help save the City and their friends.
There's new allies, new enemies, betrayals, and multiple dark forces brewing, and only the misfits can come together to stop the apocalyptic events destined to come as the cultists grow and beckon the rise of dragons.
This story is action packed from start to finish and gives you such a range of emotions that you feel your running alongside the characters and experiencing their trials and tribulations.
The world building and detail is phenomenal and it really pulls you in and keeps you hooked.
I devoured this in a day as I couldn't put it down.
This series is totally epic, I need book 3 already!

Vidar's Heart by Qua Hudson, Qua Hudson
5.0
An Asgardian love story.
"I don't want to live without you. You are my monster"
It's fast paced (literally skipping years at time), suspenseful, full of sweet and tense moments, and has a great balance of slow burn romance and spice.
Thalia is strong, stubborn and relatable, and Vidar is the perfect representation of a villain with a heart of gold.
Although a fated mate bond drives their connection, it's a story of building friendship, betrayals, revenge, redemption, patience and love.
With descriptive world building and inspiration from norse mythology this book keeps you intrigued, rooting for the characters, and has a Hea.
Would have happily read more!

Queen of Hope by May Freighter

So after reading book 1 (QOD) and book 2 (QOA) I was already fully committed to this series as it's fun, intriguing, captivating, full of adventure, and has amazing characters!, but somehow it just keeps getting better and book 3 jumps right back into the action and adventure and had me hooked again.
There's more scheming, more adventure, more secrets, more drama, and on top of that there's romances brewing!
Emilia continues to be a kick ass, strong, stubborn and impressive Queen.
Ambrose, Lionhart and Clayton are her ever loyal friends and will do everything they can to protect their Queen.
Thessian is even softening up to Emilia too and wanting to protect her, while he continues to help uncover secrets and plots against them.
And Laurence...well he keeps being Laurence, but that's a good thing as he's funny, keeps you on your toes, and is constantly getting into trouble and has drama shadowing him every step he takes.
We're also introduced to the new and handsome Valerian too, but it's too soon to tell if he's an ally or enemy, but he has eyes on Emilia too!
This series is honestly phenomenal and we get to learn so much in this latest book including insights into Emilia's past both as a young child in this realm and her previous life.
But another cliffhanger! It's an emotional rollercoaster for sure, but I can't wait for book 4!!
