Queen of Ashes by May Freighter
5.0
This is the follow up to Queen of Deception and continues the adventures of Queen Emelia, Prince Thessian, and loyal friends and guards Lawrence, Ambrose, Cali, Lionhart, Clayton and many others.
This book jumps right in after the events of book 1 and flows nicely with a good pace.
There are lots of mini adventures running alongside Emelia's plot to help Thessian take over the empire, including hunting beasts, discovering slaves, fighting dragons and capturing the elusive criminal on the run.
Like the first book this was a delightful read which keeps you hooked and wanting to read more. It was nice to see relationships blossoming too.
Looking forward to reading more adventures in the next book!

Of Chaos and Fire: Elementals of Chaos Prequel by Meghan Rhine

This was an enjoyable fast paced fantasy novella. It's fairly short so was a nice quick read with interesting world building and empathetic characters.
Similar to Hunger Games/Divergent, it's a dystopian world divided into factions with an ongoing war against 'the uppers' who offered advanced technology but at great cost.
We are introduced to Kora and her healing faction who can manipulate the earth, and Cinis sent from the Pyro (fire wielder) faction as they forge an alliance through arranged marriage.
This includes the trope of arranged marriage where they slowly fall for each other, characters doubting their purpose or ability, elements of found family, and ends on a cliffhanger.
Hoping to read more of this series soon to discover what awaits Cinis, Kara and their factions in their fight against the uppers.

This was a nice read perfect for a quick fantasy escape with a heartwarming storyline.
There's magic, cunning schemes and revenge, what's not to love.
This was a sweet and funny mini story following the mischevous antics of Philliya the Sorceress.

Tales of Splendania: A Golden Wish by T.O. Griffiths

This was a heartwarming story with creative world building that helps you picture the magical land and mystical creatures.
As an adult reader I found it entertaining, intriguing and wanting to read more, so I anticipate it would be highly captivating to younger audiences who want to dive into a wonderful world of fantasy and adventure.
With an enchanted forest, royal family, magic, curses, a unicorn, pixies and more, this makes for a fun read and lovely introduction to the land of Splendania.
I look forward to reading more soon in book 2 'Heart of Ice'.
Also the cover is beautiful!

Tales of Splendania: A Heart of Ice - Embark on the action-packed sequel to A Golden Wish, a thrilling fantasy adventure where dragons and heart-pumping action await! by T.O. Griffiths
5.0
If you enjoyed A Golden Wish (book1), then you'll absolutely adore Heart of Ice.
It's packed full of adventure, introduces wondrous new lands and mystical creatures, and is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
It follows the journey of Princess Vanadae, King Magnus, Wizard Elzagron and their loyal guards on a mission to return the golden unicorn to the Spellbound Woods, and to face and defeat the evil witch Zelavaine.
Meanwhile Prince Galderon and his trusted Knight Amelina must venture to the Kingdom of Ovamthia in a quest to kill the dangerous ice dragon alongside the King of the realm.
With loyalties tested, betrayals, secrets revealed, and enemies coming from all directions, will they overcome these challenges... They cannot possibly allow mischief and strife to win.
This is truly a delightful fantasy story for all ages, and the beautiful map and stunning artwork throughout the book helps you fully immerse into this enchanting world and appreciate the magical weapons being wielded.
I hope book 3 comes quickly as I'm dying to read more of this series and to know what happens next!

Ruled by Magic by Zara J. Black
5.0
If you enjoy heavy spice, erotica and kinks alongside paranormal magic, then this is the series for you.
Ruled by magic kicks right off with Liv being tricked into becoming Lord Commander Leopold Rahl (Leo's) concubine to avoid prison time. Add in some degradation, heavy punishments and magic, against politics, rebellion and assassination attempts, and you've got a gripping dark fantasy with an intense and intriguing plot, and a lot of spice.

After reading 'ruled by magic' first I was strickly team Leo/Liv, and Prince Adante was the 'evil twisted villain'. This book switches all that up for sure.
This ingeniously runs the same time as the events in ruled by magic so we get to see both sides of the story and learn some key background information on the villanous Adante. Throw in a calculating and ambitious women called Talia and you've got some intense antics and power plays. With more kinks, erotica and darkly possessive and intense romance thrown in, this series will keep you feeling the heat.
