This is the second book of his I've read, and I can't tell if he tries to deliver a genuinely scary folk-horror or a somewhat lazy morality story with a folk-horror veil. This one felt more like the first option, and 3/4 of it genuinely creeped me out, so I'm rounding up my rating.

It wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me the way some of her others have.

Not my usual subgenre, but I was not NOT into it!

I mean, I finished this in about 24 hours. Clearly enjoyed it. Would have finished it sooner if work hadn't interfered. Such a fun read!

3.5, but the writing had such a distinct voice that rounding up felt appropriate.

Overall 3.5, but the few that were 5 stars were HARD 5 stars so here we are. In spite of the weird thing with mannequins lol

Listen... she's a damn good writer. But I have so many mixed feelings to weed through lol
