What a joy of a graphic novel!! I listened to Here There Be Gerblins sometime between 2019 and now, but even with it being so long ago, I could still hear each characters voice and mannerisms throughout the story. Carey Pietsch did a wonderful job bringing the story to life! Seeing my favorite scenes play out was such a fun time, and I truly enjoyed it.

IT TOOK ME OVER 6 MONTHS but I’m finally done. God, but at what cost.

It’s a thick-ass book full of information and (for the most part) easy to understand. It’s just...a lot at times, which can make it hard. I’m glad I read it, though, it’s comprehensive in what it’s trying to accomplish, which I can appreciate.

Checked it out, got about a third of the way through, and then dropped it. I might come back to it later, though!

Aakskkffjskalfjfjslaakfjdjs oh my GOODNESS I loved it so much. Yadriel, Maritza, Julian, and Julian’s friends are all my children. I will die for them.

The whole “let’s be flung into a world randomly without knowing why” was…a choice, one I didn’t care for. Also, the MC was annoying and I didn’t like him.

Ya know, for the most part I was really getting into the book — I thought the premise was really interesting, and I liked the characters well enough (except for the entire subplot/premise that the MC’s dyslexia is magically cured and now he’s “””smart”””, and the ableism surrounding Ed and his “nickname”).

However, about 40-45% of the way through I was starting to get a bad feeling about the different allegories, so I decided to look up spoilers, and I ended up being right. If you’re wanting to read this book for spoopy horror, and not some weird Christian “good vs evil” tripe, look elsewhere. If I knew what I was getting into beforehand, I would’ve steered clear of this one.
