Concise, beautiful, and just like an actual gem of a book. I do - like most people - have a gigantic love of space movies (shout out to The Martian and Interstellar), and this felt like such an authentic and real portrayal of the human connection, want, and constant wonderment of what else is out there. Even though this entire book was largely set in space, I felt like it was just the most accurate depiction of what it’s like to be human. I loved this sm

On one hand, this was interesting and contextually there’s just a lot to talk about. I felt like the first half - before the war spreads further - had some beautiful prose, but it definitely did lack in the second half.

I definitely think that this was important, and it opens up good conversations, but as a novel, as a fable …. I’m not sure I appreciate what it has to say/if it’s messaging has the most weight.

Just sort of … boring. I found the context of the book and the writer more engaging than most of the content, but the Youth Hour excerpts were interesting tidbits of information - the rest of it was a bit dry and didn’t flow very well for me though, altho I recognise that could’ve been a translation issue

The translation was so clunky I struggled to connect with any of the characters and storylines, everything felt too matter of fact. But it was an easy read and emotional near the end

this was so beautifully written and made me think so much for such a short book. Everything felt so intentional, from how we jump within time, to how we see different parts of the characters, to how we find out why Fonny is in jail.

While the ending was pretty open to interpretation, there was an ending there, and considering how many things hadn’t changed from the beginning to the end of the book, I think that rlly helped with how effective the story was. To know that things would end, but also keep you guessing on how exactly they ended.
