It wasn’t good. It was bad. The characters weren’t written well whatsoever. Kasey was a caricature of a neurodivergent person while Cee was a stereotypical fun girl. I hated every second of this book. Cee’s POV was must more bearable because it was fun figuring stuff out with her. Kasey’s POV wasn’t fun because it was so monotone and boring. Act was a boring rival because he had no personality. Hero was probably the most interesting because he was just trying to kill one of the main characters the whole time. Aside from the characters, the world building was… interesting. It was super hard to understand in some scenes, and maybe that’s because I’m an idiot (don’t think so though) the world is not described well and I had a hard time imagining it. The authors woke idea of trying to make a story about climate change just failed so hard. The writing wasn’t too bad but I wouldn’t read another book by this author. I did enjoy the slight representation though, I hate when authors push differences on us, so He succeeded in not annoying me in that aspect.

My main concern with the story was Henry, Addie’s main love interest. We get some small glimpses of his life before Addie, which were lacking in depth. We can see at the end of the book that his main goal is publishing Addie’s life story. We get no REAL ending for him. He is added to the story simply to push Addie beyond anything she has experienced. Henry is simply a plot point and nothing after that. His character had so much potential but sadly never lived up to my expectations. I believe that the ending was too vague for him and did not add enough to the character that had been building up for multiple chapters. Why do we get whole family scenes and introduced to his sister just for the author to do nothing with it? We even get a whole section of the book dedicated to “building” his character but in the end it ends up being nothing. His dynamic with his friends should have added to the sadness of his potential death, it should have made us feel the loss of Henry. Henry is described as “lightning in a bottle” but I must say he is nothing of the sort. It’s sad.

My next point is Luc, which is probably the best character in the entire book. He is the only character that we don’t get much information about but has the most personality. What do we truly know about Luc other than that he’s a god? Literally nothing but he continued to be the most dynamic character. He had a clear motive but I feel it was diminished the author by boiling him down to “Oh, I must have Addie”. Yes, his main goal was to have Addie but why take away that original goal because he “falls in love with her”. What’s so interesting about Addie other than she’s been alive for 300 years? What is a a 300 year old girl compared to a literal god? Nothing, we can’t even compare them because Luc is so beyond her level. The whole book I was just HOPING the author wasn’t going to go that route because it ruins the whole book. Why set up Henry just for her to get with Luc? Why even have Henry in the plot? Not to mention that Luc is a manipulative abuser who does not truly care for Addie and I’m saying that for people who wanted them to end up together.

My NEXT point is Addie. I enjoyed the beginning when we looked at her life before immortality. I liked her way more before her immortality. I feel like the author tried wayyyyy toooooo hard to make Addie a different and unique character because “she can speak 10 languages and she has lived as a million different people”. She’s stubborn, and she’s stubborn to a point it’s annoying. I wasn’t rooting for her, I was more just sad for her. I was sad because of this story. I think the author wanted us to be rooting for Addie and happy that Addie had found someone who could remember her name but it just made me sad?? She spent her whole life alone just for this dude to come along and die in what, 60 years? It felt too quick and sad. Not to mention Henry is only added to give Addie something to be selfless for. Anyway, it was stupid reading about the people Addie had been with and it make her character seem pathetic at the fact she was with people for months and months and they didn’t even remember her.
The author turned what could have been a good character into a upsetting, desperate one. I also hated how the author mentioned Addie giving up her virginity, it seems like the author just wanted to give her trauma for shits and giggles. In fact, Addie’s whole life is just one big plot of suffering that contributes nothing. When will we stop seeing female characters in books be traumatized just to further a plot?

I didn’t like how the author touched on war whatsoever. War should have been a huge part of Addie’s life especially because she lived through some of the most difficult times. I just wish it had been touched on a bit more and in a better manner but what can we expect.
I liked the writing but good writing is nothing without a good plot. The concept could have been so good if properly executed!

If you've read my reviews before, you know how much of a hater I am of V. Let me tell you, when I was reading this book about Assail and Sola, I wasn't expecting so much V. Vishous is one of the worst characters in the BDB universe and any time he is brought up it gets my blood boiling.
In this book, V decides to almost cheat on Jane. Stupid. Of course, he would, he is never satisfied with anything he has. Not only does he basically cheat on her (he does cheat, the fact he even let someone come over to his home is enough for me to say it's cheating) he yells at her and says it's her fault. It's not her fault and even though I'm not a Jane fan, I will stick by her. He is so narcissistic and terrible to everyone around him. He tries to be all emo about every emotion he has but come onnnnnnn man, nobody gives a fuck. It's much harder to be vulnerable than locked in your fortress of solitude. Just be real with someone FOR ONCE MAN. Anyway, enough about his sorry ass, let's get to Assail and Sola.
I love Assail, but in this book, he irked the fuck out of me. I love his cousins but they lied to Sola about him having cancer just so she would come down. It was terrible, but then he proceeds to lie to her multiple times throughout the book. I don't give a fuck if a man was head over heels for me, if he lied multiple times about serious situations we would not ever speak again. The way he treats her just shows how he really feels, truly. Ugh. I Love Sola though, I saw a review on here saying how they didn't like her wish-washyness but COME ON. If your man lied to you about having cancer, would you not be back and forth about your feelings for him? Overall, the story was shitty because we didn't get enough of the main characters and only got a story about shitty side characters. I enjoyed whatever Throe was doing, looking towards more of that! Evale and Eric have my heart and so does Sola's Vovo. Anyway, so done with this series but I'm gonna stick it out. PS. Vitoria's POV was stupid and unneeded. And I'm NOT excited for Muhrder (what a stupid name)

Okay, pretty cute. I never really enjoyed Peyton because of his whole 'I'm in love with Paradise' thing, but in this book, he was a lot better. I saw the romance coming with Novo from a mile away, I mean hello, they're super cute together. I really loved Novo's story arc and really fell in love with her character more than I thought I would. I might even like her more than Paradise, but I'm not really sure yet haha.
Saxton and Ruhn were adorable, although I still have my troubles with JR Ward's gay sex scenes. She doesn't know how to write them at all and makes them terrible. I enjoyed their dialogue wayyy more and they were super cute together. I didn't like Blay for Saxton and I knew Saxton deserved much more, and I'm glad It turned out to be Ruhn.
Not my favorite book out of the legacy series but still better than most of the regular BDB series.

Okay, I enjoyed the LGBTQA+ aspects of the book. As a queer person myself, yes, it was good. Although I think it was pushed too hard. And maybe the book was supposed to be all about the community but it felt like too much. We have Roe, a queer questioning gender character and Fiona a POC with stereotypes galore. It was a good read but it pushed too much on trying to be different in unique in aspects of character creations. I am all for having diverse characters but whenever they are mentioned it’s all about their struggles as a POC or Queer person. A person is more than their gender/sexuality/race. And I believe the story is trying to tell that but doing it terribly. Cute story though. I’m a fan of first loves/young love so I really liked the scenes between Roe and Maeve!!! May or may not read the next book!

Okaaaaaaay, where to start?
Well, this book was definitely something. I'm honestly not quite sure what. Let's start off by saying I think this book was wrongly placed. If you read these books in order AND YOU SHOULD BE you'd know that The Beast came before this one. Which no. It shouldn't have. Layla and Xcor's story has been building up for so long that they deserved the spot of The Beast instead of Rhage and Mary. Look, I love Rhage, he's one of my favorite males in this book series, but his bullshit was not as important as this was. It just felt really odd to go from happy-go-lucky Rhage and Mary's story that was interjected poorly to "Oh my god Qhuinn almost shot Layla in front of her kids" in this book. And that leads us to our next problem.
Qhuinn.
Pre-book 11 (Blay and Qhuinn's official story) I enjoyed Qhuinn. Don't get me wrong, I thought he was an arrogant asshole but honestly what man isn't in these books? So, like always I ignored it and continued on. Well, his book made me hate him, not Blay, him. I've had personal BEEF with Qhuinn since he ruined Blay and Saxton's relationships, so let's say I wasn't excited to hear more about him. This book made me hate him even more. If I could kill a fictional character for fun, it would indeed be Qhuinn. I lost it when he had the gun in Layla's face while she was protecting the twins. I lost it when he said Blay wasn't even the dad. I LOST IT WHEN HE ACTUALLY SHOT BULLETS. What is wrong with this man? The things he said to Layla are inexcusable and his bullshit apology, in the end, doesn't cover ANY of it for me. It doesn't excuse that he tried to kill Xcor TWICE when the dude wasn't even doing anything. Xcor was literally waking up from a coma the first time, and the second he was just minding his business. I don't like the things he said to Blay at all and the whole adoption whatever papers made me laugh. How can you tell someone how they aren't the father and never will be then turn around and give away your parental rights, c'mon MAN. And, he dogs on Xcor and Layla for being "forbidden love" when he's literally gay but whatever. shut up. ANYWAY. ENOUGH OF QHUINN Because I could rant about him all day haha.

LAYLA
Ok, look. I don't love Layla or hate Layla. She's not my favorite by far but I have no reason to despise her like so many in the BDB community do. I mean, she's just trying to live her best life with her man and kids. I understand I understand, she's a traitor, I get it. I don't care. AND NEITHER DOES WRATH. Wrath literally does not give a fuck after hearing about it for 5 minutes, unlike everyone else who has a personal beef with Layla. I mean, Qhuinn is up in arms (literally) and Tohrment won't stfu about his revenge. It's not like Xcor shot any of you, he shot Wrath. And Wrath does not care that Layla loves Xcor, so you shouldn't either. I don't agree with some of Layla's actions but I don't care! I really don't! You'd do it too if you were in love.

XCOR <3
I love Xcor so I'm biased as hell. Out of all the stupid men in this stupid ass series, Xcor appreciates his mate the most. The way he speaks about Layla, god, I wish a person would speak about me like that. Even on his death bed (twice I might add) he had nothing but love for her. In my mind, V is more sociopathic than Xcor is BY FAR. They made Xcor out to be this evil person who r@pes and kills but it's nothing that literally every person who went to the war camp hasn't done. So let's count V, Tohr, Darius hmmm XCOR. All of these people have been through that stuff and none of them are as crazy as V. (I also have a personal beef with Tohr because of the way he thinks about women but that's beside the point, we'll get to that when I bash him) I love Xcor. Can't say it enough. He's a changed person, but he's always been this person deep inside. He's going to be a great dad.

V
Ugh. If you read my review of V from his book, you'll know how I feel about him a bit. In theory, he's hot and mysterious, in reality, he's a sociopathic asshole who doesn't deserve anything. Even while he was saving Xcor all I could do is roll my eyes. He doesn't even care about ANYTHING. He's so numb and all he does is blame it on everyone around him. "Blah my mother is a god and hates me and my father is the bloodletter and ruined me" BRO. WE GET IT. He won't confront the issues he has with Jane not giving him enough attention which leads him to almost cheat. It's stupid. The whole thing is stupid. He prides himself on being logical but in reality, he's not logical at all. He's completely delusional. He's delusional to think that Jane can read his mind. He's delusional to think that he can be mean to everyone just because he's hurt on the inside. He's so bitter and I'm tired of it. I don't want to read about him in the next book, because I simply do not give a shit. I'm tired of V and his sob story.

TOHR
Another one of my least favorite characters. He's extremely bland and when he does say something of substance it's about his dead wife or about how he hates women. Every time he talks about Wellsie it's in the weirdest ways like he doesn't have a new wife or something. It's weird and I don't even know how to describe it and I just don't like it. The way he spoke to Layla was shocking (not really if you know Tohr) to say the least. He treated her like complete trash and him saying sorry doesn't redeem it. I hate when men speak about mothers like they have any idea how it is to be a mother. stupid. I enjoyed the ending he had with Xcor and them being brothers. Sure. It was cute I guess. I was happier for Xcor than Tohrment though.

Throe
Don't even bring him up because I simply have no idea.

LASSITER
Love him.
I wasn't shocked he took the place of Scribe Virgin, especially after reading Axe's book (the blood legacy series) It was pretty obvious it was him. I was sobbing when he was saying "they're my family" while watching the fight go down because they truly are his family. It made me sad he has to make that decision with the people he loves as collateral. Anyway, can't wait for more of him because he's honestly my favorite character right now.

TREZ AND TRES
I don't care. I don't care about Trez because I barely even liked Selena. I know this is gonna be some weird thing where is Selena reincarnated or something I can already tell. It felt really out of place in this story because that happened like 2 books ago. I wanted more Layla and Xcor moments instead of Trez and his dead wife look-alike!

ASSAIL <3
This man has my whole heart. Only heard about him in passing (no POV) but seems like he's having a rough time in drug psychosis. Poor baby.

I love this book as much as the last one!! I feel like this series adds so much more to the BDB universe and I love the characters just as much. Lassiter and Bitty’s relationship was so cute and when he got stuck in the chimney?? Perfect! I loved Axe and Elise. They’re so cute. Elise is probably my favorite female character to date, she’s literally me. Ssososoososososo me. Anyway, this was amazing. Excited for Peyton and Novo’s book. EXCITED FOR RUHN AND SAXTON BECAUSE UHMMMM?? DEFINITELY SOMETHING THERE!

The opening training scene was one of the best things I’ve ever read. Especially when she walked and walked and walked. JR Ward out-did herself writing it, making it sooooo worth the read. I was so captured in the story during that moment. I love Paradise, one of the better written feminine character.
