Klara sees in boxes. This is important to realize. Her grid-based vision system is a clue for how to parse through Ishiguro’s narrative. The way things move through her grid is replicated by the way Ishiguro slow drips information to you. Like Klara, you may not understand what you’re seeing at first but, eventually, you’ll see the right box and the whole picture will form. The result is magical.

As a cosmere fan this was distinctly not for me but fans of Sanderson’s work outside of the cosmere, especially YA, will probably enjoy.

Readable and not entirely uncompelling but ultimately this is a gimmick in search of a plot.
